This evening on his Fox News program, Tucker Carlson wanted to engage Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) on the recent report that the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s campaign were involved in funding the infamous Trump/Russia dossier. Sherman, however, had other ideas.
Right off the bat, the California lawmaker let Tucker know what he was actually there to discuss: “I am here to talk about the tax bill,” Sherman said before railing on the GOP’s tax reform proposal.
“We don’t have a tax bill,” Carlson responded. “We have no idea what the details are. We have literally nothing.”
Sherman responded that there is a 12-page outline available, leading Carlson to state that it will be different once it gets to the Senate and that he’d love to debate about this, but preferred to talk about the Russia story.
Sherman was having none of it, and kept pushing on the tax proposal, leading Carlson to tell him it was “clever” and claimed that he’d have Sherman on “any day to talk about” taxes.
“No, you won’t!” the Democrat exclaimed. “I’ve been trying to get on your show again and again and again and you only have me on to talk about nonsense!”
And then it really went off the rails, to the point that Tucker said Sherman had “jumped off the rails.” With Sherman finally willing to talk about the dossier, Tucker tried to focus on whether there was any stolen information included in the document.
“I don’t know whether there are Martians who have landed on this planet,” Sherman shouted back.
And it just kept going on like that for the entire 10+ minute segment, with Sherman noting that the reason he circulated articles of impeachment against Trump wasn’t for collusion with Russia but instead for obstruction of justice.
“Honestly, it’s hard for me to believe, given everything you’ve said in the last year, that you are putting on this performance now,” an exasperated Carlson retorted.
