Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen‘s latest episode of Who Is America? targets former Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, claiming to have a new piece of Israeli technology that can detect pedophiles. The device “accidentally” goes off when used on Moore, and and the fake interview ends rather quickly after that.
Cohen told the former Trump-endorsed Alabama candidate that he is an Israeli anti-terrorism expert named Erran Morad, and first describes other technological advances used by Israel, including a method for finding tunnels used by Hamas. He then explains he has the “latest Israeli gadget”, a device that can detect an enzyme that denotes a child molester.
“So the phrase ‘sweating like a rapist’ is actually based in science,” Cohen says. He describes the device, then demonstrates how it would be used, waving it over himself and Moore. Over Moore, the device begins to beep.
“It must be faulty,” says Cohen as Morad. He smacks it, he tries it again. He tries it on one of his crew and then waves it over Moore a third time, and again it beeps.
“Did you lend the jacket to somebody else, maybe?” he asks. Moore shakes his head
“I’ve been married for 33,” says Moore. “I’ve never had an accusation of such things.”
Cohen objects that he is making no accusation, and Moore says. “If this is an instrument, then I– certainly I’m not a pedophile, okay?”
Cohen again begins saying he’s not accusing Moore, and Moore replies “maybe Israeli technology hasn’t developed properly.”
Cohen says the device is “99.8 percent accurate” but “it is not saying that you are a pedophile, of course not.”
“I am simply cutting this conversation right now, thank you,” said Moore getting up to leave. “I support Israel, I don’t support this kind of stuff.
