‘What are We Doing Here?’ Marianne Williamson Rips Dems for ‘Protecting’ Biden’s ‘Feelings’

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson ripped members of her party Saturday morning for not calling on President Joe Biden to exit the 2024 presidential race and called for an open convention.

Williamson told Fox News that those who are still supporting Biden’s reelection bid are putting the president’s “feelings” over the direction of the country.

Two weeks ago, Williamson announced she would seek her party’s nomination citing Biden’s poor June debate performance against former President Donald Trump.

On Fox News Live on Saturday afternoon, Williamson was pressed about Biden’s mental state and the state of his campaign by network host Griff Jenkins.

“Let’s start with how you see the race and the president’s condition as you watch him,” Jenkins said before opening up the floor to his guest.

“Well, certainly it’s not good for the Democratic Party, that internal turmoil is the main phrase used to describe where we are right now. The Republican Party, as you were just showing on your program, is filled with energy, and excitement. ‘We are going to win.’ And the democratic party is going through this awful family drama that should have been handled within a week at the most.”

Willamson said Democrats needed to honestly assess how they ended up with a candidate that so many people now believe might not be fit for office.

After Jenkins asked her if she believed Democrats “lied” about Biden’s cognitive state before the debate, Williamson replied that she did not feel voters had the right to choose their nominee.

Williamson said:

It’s not even about whether they were being honest. What was problematic is that the American people never got to see it. If the president had had to actually campaign in the primary – you know, Thomas Jefferson said, ‘The only safe repository for power is in the hands of the people.’ Now, I’m not mentioning this because I’m going back. It’s because right now, these people that felt that they had the right to choose, that it was Joe, need to get off their high horses. It’s their arrogance and sense of entitlement that put us where we are.

They need to not believe they’re entitled now to decide we’re going to Kamala or decide we’re going with Gavin. The mistake made before must be corrected now and must be opened up. We need to have a blitz primary, we need to have an open convention, which we had for 200 years and worked fine.

After Williamson watched a clip Jenkins aired of Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) defending Biden’s decision to stay in the race, Williamson went off on Democrats.

“First of all, what are we doing here?” she asked. “Are we protecting Joe Biden’s feelings or are we protecting American democracy?”

She concluded the segment by calling for an open primary at the Democratic National Convention.
