Children’s Clothes Laid Along Bournemouth Beach By Political Activists To Protest War
Political activists from the group Led By Donkeys laid out a three-mile-long line of children’s clothes along Bournemouth beach to protest the impact of the Israel-Hamas conflict on young people.
The group behind the installation said it aimed to visualise the toll of the war, representing the over 11,000 young lives lost since September 7.
Led by Donkeys, known for bold public and political statements, particularly critical of Brexit and the Conservative government, said the installation took 80 volunteers and five hours to assemble. It spans from Canford Cliffs to nearly Boscombe, and symbolises the children killed on both sides of the conflict.
In a statement, Led By Donkeys demanded the UK and US to call for an immediate ceasefire: “All children are innocent whether they’re Palestinian or Israeli.”
Organiser James Sadri said: “If you were to walk this line, it would take you an hour to walk past 5km of children who’ve been killed – and that should be a wake-up call for all of us.”
The BBC reported that visitors to the beach expressed their shock and sorrow upon encountering the display.
The clothes will be collected, cleaned, and donated to charities and second-hand shops, continuing to serve a purpose even after the protest.
