Labour Leader Keir Starmer Mocks Elon Musk ‘Fan Boy’ Prime Minister For Government Reshuffle

Labour leader Keir Starmer mocked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for another cabinet reshuffle in a computer pun riddled speech during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday.

Starmer raised laughter from the opposition benches as he joked that Sunak was “turning his government on and off at the wall and hope that we’ll see signs of life.”

The Labour leader said: “[Sunak’s] had three reshuffles, a forgotten conference speech, an Empty King speech, he even found time to Fatboy Elon Musk, but not one of them has made the slightest difference to the lives of working people. If we had a pound for every time we had a reset, the cost living crisis would have been over long ago.”

He continued: “Now, he likes to think of himself as the man from Silicon Valley, the tech savvy Californian, the country’s AI PM. And yet his big idea is to keep turning his government on and off at the wall and hope that we’ll see signs of life. Is he starting to feel that ss somebody once said, ‘he was the future once.’”

The humour, however, may be short lived. Scottish National Party Westminster leader Stephen Flynn has said Parliament must “show moral leadership” and demand a ceasefire in Gaza, putting forward an amendment to the King’s Speech.

Labour has said it is “not going to be engaging” with the vote but will make its own motion. Still, some from the restless faction within the Labour Party, who have publicly backed a ceasefire, threaten to vote for the SNP’s amendment and defy the party position — a move that some expect would lead to Starmer sacking senior members of his opposition government.
