Piers Morgan Accuses Nigel Farage Of ‘Bottling’ Past Election Candidacy As Brexiteer Hits Back: ‘You’re a YouTuber’

Piers Morgan and Nigel Farage clashed during a heated debate on BBC’s Question Time after the journalist mocked the politician of “bottling it” because he failed to get elected as a parliamentary candidate seven times.

The lively exchange came during Farage’s first appearance on the show in five years when a member of the audience asked if the reason he wasn’t standing in the upcoming general election was because of his previous failed attempts to “get selected.”

As the audience applauded and Farage waited to respond, Morgan shouted: “He’s bottled it!”

“Piers, you’ve never had the bottle to stand,” the Brexiteer shot back.

The journalist repeated: “You’ve bottled it, mate. I’m not a politician.” You’ve stood. I’m not a politician.

“You’re not even a TV host,” Farage replied.

“You’ve bottled it. He’s pretending to represent a party you’re not even prepared to risk [standing for],” Morgan said, pointing out that Farage, honourary president for Reform UK, was there as the party’s advocate.

when asked why Farage wasn’t running in the upcoming election. Farage retorted, “I have a nightly TV show, yours has been shut down. You’re a YouTuber.”

Farage responded by accusing rival parties of cheating during his “one serious attempt at standing for Parliament” when he stood for election for the pro-Brexit UKIP. He said: “They cheated so badly that the agent got a nine-month prison sentence.”

He added: “I know how difficult it is when you’ve got the big parties who treat the law with contempt. I didn’t feel in six weeks from scratch I could do it. But I tell you what, I will be part of this campaign. I will be part of this debate. And I do think there are some very serious issues not being discussed.”

Morgan didn’t buy it, and replied: Sorry, you’ve had all year to think about this election.”

“I’ve had a TV show, Piers,” Farage shot back, referring to the GB News show he hosted before quitting in May to focus on the election and an opportunity representing former President Donald Trump’s election campaign.

Morgan continued: “We all knew it was coming. We all knew it was coming. This idea you didn’t have enough time to prepare.”

Farage replied with a shot at Morgan’s decision to take his show Piers Morgan Uncensored online only shortly before the shuttering of TalkTV’s broadcasting operation: “I have a nightly TV show. Yours has been shut down, but mine’s still going.”

Host Fiona Bruce stepped in: “Oh my God. OK, let’s not go there.”

Morgan returned: “If I may point out, I came off old linear television.”

“You were sacked. Because you’re sitting there with nobody watching,” Farage hit back.

Bruce intervened again: “Okay Piers and Nigel, much as you want too much you want to sort out your kind of TV rivalries. What we want to do is hear from the audience.”
