Okay. There are a lot of stories out there about people getting busted for pretending to be someone they’re not, but this one is really, really weird because it’s about an adult who enrolled in high school and masqueraded as a kid for four years.
It makes more sense when you learn that he was a Ukrainian immigrant who lost his visa. Somehow, according to Fox 43, he got a Pennsylvania driver’s license with his assumed name, Asher Potts, after the visa with his real name, Artur Samarin, expired.
How much must this dude have hated the Ukraine if he was willing to take on a new identity and go back to high school?
Not only did Potts/Samarin enroll in ninth grade in 2012, when he was 19, but he really killed it. He was an honors student. He was a panelist at January’s youth summit and was involved in ROTC and Naval Sea Cadet program. When he committed to going back to high school, he committed.
As evidenced by the video above, not everyone was thrilled, but over on Twitter, remnants of who Potts/Samarin was remain.
Throwback of Me and Asher Potts or should I say Artur Samarin. Was a very respective person!! Mindblown about this! pic.twitter.com/jOkxDGeuIM
