Chevy Chase Allegedly Tried to Run Car of Youths Off The Road, Attacked Young Man: ‘I Am Going to Ruin Your Lives!’

Comic actor Chevy Chase, best known for his time on SNL, got into something of a vehicular mishap in upstate New York last week which ended with a 22-year-old allegedly kicking him in self defense as Chase yelled “I am going to ruin your lives!”

It all started when UPS worker Michael Landrio noticed a blue Mercedes flashing its lights at them, indicating that they should pull over.

Landrio, who was in the vehicle with three friends, said that, instead of pulling over, they slowed down to see who was driving the vehicle, not recognizing the actor.

“We were in the right lane and as we came up to the bridge we went to the middle lane,” he said, alleging that Chase began following them. “It was an old guy yelling – something we couldn’t hear – super pissed-off… We just tried to get the heck away from him. He followed us the whole length of the bridge, driving crazy.”

Landrio said that Chase began weaving in and out of traffic, all in an effort to allegedly run them off the road.

“My friend opened his window and just said, ‘I apologize, we were just trying to go upstate,’” he said, adding that Chase’s Mercedes blocked their vehicle.

Chase is said to have then exclaimed “Do you know who the fuck I am?” and “I am going to ruin your lives!”

Both cars stopped and, according to Landrio, Chase attempted to pull him out of the car and attack him, allegedly screaming “I am going to punch you in the nose.”

That’s when Landrio kicked Chase, a move he has attributed to self-defense, knocking him to the ground. That didn’t, however, stop the star of Caddyshack.

“I closed my car door and locked it but he was still trying to get in at me when a nurse and an off-duty cop escorted him away,” Landrio said.

As for whether or not they knew who the actor was, Landrio said: “I looked him up on Google and I still didn’t know who he was.”

Chase has not offered up any explanation as to what made him so angry with them in the first place.

This is not the first time Chase has been called out for his cantankerous personality. He often rubbed costars the wrong way during his last regular TV gig, playing Pierce Hawthorne on NBC’s Community.
