Chelsea’s Wedding: First Look (PHOTOS)

The New York Times has published a few photos from Chelsea Clinton‘s wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, held this evening at a private ceremony in Rhinebeck, New York. The details of the wedding have been subject to much speculation — including the make of Chelsea’s wedding dress! — as well as confirmed attendees (ferried to the event on shuttle buses with tinted windows) and the estimated cost of the lavish affair. A few photos from the event were released to select media outlets, including the Times, as well as the Washington Post and Politico, showing a smiling Chelsea with Mezvinsky, Secretary of State Clinton radiant in fuschia, and a very slim-looking President Bill Clinton walking his daughter down the aisle.

Update: Here’s a statement from former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, via HuffPo:

“Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day.”

Chelsea’s a sweet kid, in spite of growing up around Bill and Hillary. Congrats to Marc and Chelsea. One thing I don’t get, though, about the wedding hype. Seems to me, with the Clintons making such a huge loud deal, about keeping all the details a secret, they were actually hyping up media interest, more so, than had they just kept quiet. Chelsea has never been a media hog, like most kids of politicians, and I believe the media would have given her all the space she needed, if Bill and Hillary had not attempted to treat the wedding, as an almost royal wedding. All the secrecy demands, were like waving a red flag at a bull, when it comes to the nosy media. LOL.

this may be one of the few mediaite stories that liberals and conservatives agree on the story/article in general. ..beautiful bride ..gorgeous wedding ..happy looking groom ..proud parents of the happy couple ..capitalism at work in the expense/cost of the affair (apparently it takes a village to marry off a child) ..(ok…i had to throw that in *smile* …..who said we can’t all come together?!!
