Focus On Latinos: Fox News Launching Website Aimed At Hispanic Market
Last year Fox News expanded its web properties with FoxNation.com, a community/opinion site.
This year, the network is adding a new site aimed at one particular, and very relevant, demographic – FoxNewsLatino.com is coming.
Reuters has the story:
“About a third of the country is going to be of Latino heritage by 2050 and we thought it was time to launch a site with more of a focus,” said Michael Clemente, Fox News’ senior vice president of news editorial.
One immediate follow-up question might be – what do people like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck think of this? “I don’t think there’ll be conflict,” said Clemente. “We will do what we always do on the news side which is to be very fair and balanced on all sides of the issue in our reporting.”
As much crossover as there is between Fox News content, both online and on air, with FoxNation.com, we’d imagine there will be far less on FoxNewsLatino.com (by the way, link is broken – the site isn’t live yet Update: Site is coming this fall). Still, as the 2010 race heats up, content aimed at the growing demographic of Latino Americans, backed by any network, could be a major draw.
There’s no word yet on when the site becomes active, but we’ll keep an eye on the content once it does.
