Latest Color Of Change Slam Against FNC: Free ‘Turn Off FOX’ Stickers

Topping the internet’s most popular news aggregators today is the no-strings-attached offer by grassroots, web-based organization ColorOfChange.org to provide anyone who wants one a “Turn Off FOX” sticker, free of charge (yes, even shipping). And who isn’t a fan of free things? Or simple bumper sticker activism for that matter.  And while, most casual liberals may see this as a random grassroots giveaway, but it’s actually a part of Color of Change‘s long struggle against FOX News.

Color of Change first seriously battled the network last summer, when they lead the charge of getting advertisers to drop Glenn Beck after he said President Obama held a “deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.“  Then in September, Glenn Beck got his revenge when a petition saying the Bush administration “may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen” was found with the signature of Color of Change founder Van Jones on it.  Though Jones vehemently denied this was a stance he held, the damage was done and he was forced to resign as Obama’s Green Jobs Czar.

Now today, the organization is striking again by giving out these “Turn Off FOX” stickers to anyone in America willing to sign a petition saying FOX is “spreading hate, lies and division.”

FOX and ColorOfChange.org have had a long and conflict-filled history.  So perhaps as the people who chose to do so are putting these stickers on their cars, they get reminded that it’s also time we all learn to Coexist.

ColorofChange.org. Uh Ohh! End of FOX, people!
Don’t need the powerful like that against you.

  • The Real Royal King

I’d say this is a brilliant idea! Brillo! In Cambridge, New Haven, Chapel Hill, Madison, Austin, Palo Alto, and many other cities in America with highly educated populations, these should be very popular.

AT FOX “NEWS” WE SET OUT TO MULTI-TASK:
    REPUBLICAN PR AND TERROR DOUGH.
BUT, HOW DARE YOU QUESTION, HOW DARE YOU ASK:
ON WHOM OUR FAVORS WE DEEM TO BESTOW?

I don’t think the goal is to knock FOX off the air. Personally, I am pleased that 1% or less of the American population has find meaning and purpose in becoming FOX Zombies. Rather, the purpose is to further discredit and delegitimize FOX in the minds of the broader public. To be sure, FOX has been doing a stunning job all on its own, what with the Breitbarting episode, the RNC underwriting episode, the non-coverage of the Iraqi pull-out episode (whilst O’Hannity was pumping up O’Rove’s deflated ego, O’Reilly was interviewing a body language expert and O’Van Susteren was boating in Alaska) and the terrorist funding connection. Still, we ought to do all we can to advance the process.

Or you could write nursery rhymes like a Mediaite resident does…

How are those F*ck Tea shirts selling , by the way ?

    How embarrassing …

  • Moderate

This will have people, that never watch the news, checking out Fox News, many will become habitual viewers. Sheer genius.

  • Penguin60

We’re getting our asses kicked everyday by that evil Fox. I know, let’s shiite on the Constitution! Way to go leftards, keep it up.
And whiny jokes on this site agree! Thanks for not disappointing.

So im guessing the area you live in it wont be popular?
Do you even live in any of those cities? Those residents dont give a damn about Fox. They could care less about how the country is changing. The sales of shirt will skyrocket just like those F*ck Tea shirts and “Unf-ck the Gulf” shirts.

And 1% of “Fox Zombies” -im guessing by your brilliant statistics is the percent of the country who watch Fox. Then percentage wise, what are the MSLSD druggies of the category you fit into? You cant compare the viewers of one network to an entire vast ideological base in the country.
And those little nursery rhymes you include in every post, do you come up with that yourself or did John Stewart’s writers have a hand?

Well they were effective enough to get Glenn Beck’s advertisers to pull and then send him on a personal vendetta against their creator, I wouldn’t underestimate them.

“Color of Change first seriously battled the network last summer, when they lead the charge of getting advertisers to drop Glenn Beck…”

By the way, how’d that work out? :)

  • greg454

Well, I thought progressives were color blind, like Martin Luther King, Jr. Guess not. So color of change wants me to turn of Fox and they’ll give me a sticker? Gee, I can’t wait.

“Well they were effective enough to get Glenn Beck’s advertisers to pull and then send him on a personal vendetta against their creator, I wouldn’t underestimate them.”

—Glenn Beck has new advertisers who are thrilled to support the #1 rated show on TV. Goldline is certainly making a fortune.

Boycotts mean nothing, Married with Children was boycotted, they lost advertisers, and when companies saw their ratings they quickly came back. Howard Stern suffered boycotts, so did Disney. In the end it’s all about ratings. That’s what progressives don’t understand, they think you have run a successful business with low ratings. They thing PBS is cool even though hardly anyone watches.

Glenn Beck has already won, his ratings, bestsellers, and the thousands of people that will attend the Restoring Honor event on 8/28 is prove of that. His enemies will bitch and whine, which is what losers always do.

lonestar77 says: “Don’t you just love racist hate groups like color of change?”

It is documented in Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance that this kind of notion is snet to Color of Change all the time…by wing nuts. When propagandists tell people what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear (the truth), they will always choose their comfort zone and stick with the liars on Fox.

They have people like lonestar77 confused about the difference anti-racists and racists. Tim Wise gets this horsedung too.

  • greg454

Color of change is racist, their name itself is racist. Since when does change have to do with color? Obama’s a bad president not because he’s half-black or half-white or whatever half you prefer, but because he’s a socialist.

  • http://sharethisurlaboutglennbeck.com/ GlennBeckReview

greg, read Micheal Green’s The Regressive Antidote. It makes mince meat out of the meat head notion that Obama is a socialist and calls Glenn Beck out as a dry drunk.

  • Mr B

There is irony in an anti-capitalist group using Capitalism to make money.

I wish you guys would make up your minds. Obama was a socialist and socialism is the best thing ever. Now, he’s not a socialist. Is he a Capitalist then? Kagan is super awesome but stop asking if she is gay. She’s not gay. Gay is good. But, no way is she gay. Bush is bad. But, we wish he would say something about the mosque to help Obama out of the hole he put himself in. How about that Iraq war, huh? (golf clap)

  • Constantly

gbr do you cut yourself so you can “feel”?

But GBR is not, I repeat not, obsessed with Glenn Beck.

  • KMLake

Please give me one of those stickers so we can lower the income of the Vampire King, Rupert Murdock. However, without Faux news I wouldn’t know what issues to oppose that they support or what corporate sponsors they have that I put on my “no buy” list. It’s a great way to find out what reprehensible shenanigans hate-mongers are up to this week and what Faux’s latest attack on the heart and soul of my country are. They are great at making us hate and fear each other, abuse each other and even kill each other.

Hey you Fox haters, you say Fox News lies everyday. Starting today list one lie that you heard on Fox News?
Remember O’Reilly, Hannity, Beck, Van Susteren and Fox and Friends are NOT news shows.

By tomorrow you should be able to fill a five inch post with all those lies. By the end of the week you should have us all convinced that Fox is Faux News. LOL.

  • Tony the Fist

Ever hear the phrase: “Thou dost protest too much”? I know when my mom told me, “Don’t open that door, don’t open that door, don’t even think about opening that door, don’t even wonder what’s behind that door…” innate investigative curiousity told me, “Man, I gotta find out what the hell is behind that damn door!”

  • SpineCrusher

    Agreed!

  • NYLefty

Right-wingers are so proud of their very own “news” channel, while they trash NBC, CBS, and ABC for being “liberal.” But even Katie Couric, who’s in last place among the evening network newscasts, has more viewers than Beck, O’Reilly, Hannity, or anybody else on the Fox “News” Channel.

  • Tony the Fist

You mean more people watch free TV than cable? Wow. I bet more people listen to free radio than Syrius too, huh? What an amazing media world we live in. I don’t watch Fox because I’m conservative, I watch it because it’s damn good TV. You people keep telling me that the porterhouse steak I’m eating is crap and that I should join you enlightened diners behind the dumpster at Burger King. No thanks, I can taste, I’m good here. Bon apetite.

  • WideAwakeNow

Glenn Beck & Fox News must reeeeeally get under the collective thin skin of this White House and their ilk. BUMPER STICKERS?? lol. ooooOOOOOOHH… If I see one of THOSE displayed somewhere I might never turn on Fox News again ’cause it’ll scare me into giving up my right to watch real news.

Just like the other desperate attempts to silence FNC, I predict this will backfire on those who seek to do the silencing.

  • NYLefty

Tony the Fist: The majority of U.S. households receive cable TV (and therefore can watch Fox “News”). Last week nearly 19 million people watched the evening newscasts on “liberal” NBC, CBS, and ABC. The highest rated show on Fox “News” (O’Reilly) was watched by fewer than 3 million people. And of course you watch Fox because you’re conservative. Give me a break.

  • http://sharethisurlaboutglennbeck.com/ GlennBeckReview

Constantly says: “yeah i will when you become some kind of expert on intelligence instead of obsession, you fucking psycho.”

First, intelligible does not equal intelligent. That would be asking way too much of you. I was just seeking something from you that made sense. What I/we got was a demonstration of how crude and rude you are. And the Beckerheads march to Washington to hang on every word from this huckster.

  • felixw

Propagandists are always obsessed with shutting down competing sources of information. That’s in the very nature of being a propagandist. Whereas truth tellers are happy to allow people the chance to hear different accounts and make up their minds. That’s why the leftwing pundits spend more time covering Fox than covering the news. Meanwhile Fox is happy to report and let the viewers decide. By the same token, that’s why Olbermann always talks about O’Reilly while O’Reilly never talks about Olbermann.

Whenever you see a campaign like this “Turn off Fox,” you can rest assured that the people behind it have an agenda other than reporting honestly and telling the truth. They might as well make their slogan into Turn off your mind, since this is invariably the real goal of people trying to shut down alternative media accounts and limit access to information.

G, I don’t hate the people at fox (though I can’t stand Murdock) Some of them clearly believe what they are saying based on the information they have been provided by others….It’s just some of the silliness like speculation that sharia law will somehow take over America. I am also not saying that other stations are all sweetness and light. For example, Rick Sanchez was one of the first to publicize Brietbart’s edited version of Sherrod’s speech. I think most of them are irresponsible hacks that have no intention of providing news that’s “fair and balanced.” You’re out there in public view all the time and I am sure you have been lied about in the press… that’s just what they do. It’s lazy, stupid and dangerous. What ever happened to “fact checking” and just presenting the information withouth the tears, eye rolling, the “spin,” cheap shots and ridicule? It’s a disgrace and a diservice to our people.

  • KMLake

You make a great point though about some of the shows not being “news shows.” I hadn’t given that much thought. That should be a wake up call to anyone who tunes in to any “news” channel. Opinion is just that… opinion. It’s not the news and should always be taken with a grain of salt and evaluated for the presenter’s agenda or “spin.”

Janice how are they hypocritical for refusing to submit to domination or “news” coverage that consistantly infers negative views of their race. I am white and I don’t have any problem at all admitting that folks of my race have made a few mistakes down the line with other races. We haven’t cornered the market on bigotry though. Many (most?) other races have their problems in this area too. But, instead of “taking their inventory” I take my own and that of people who share my race. These people, Color of Change (a multicultural organization by the way) don’t like the spin that Faux news puts on their stories (Faux isn’t the only one by any means). They are presenting their complaint in a pretty benign way. I don’t have a problem with respectful protests by any group whether I agree with them or not. It’s when the name calling starts and the rush to dismiss another person’s point of view just because it challenges our world view… that I get a little miffed.

  • Morgan

Eric writes > So perhaps as the people who chose to do so are putting these stickers on their cars, they get reminded that it’s also time we all learn to Coexist.

It’s a little too early in the campaign for the “Can’t we all just get along?” ploy. That really shut down G.H.W. Bush’s debate when he ran against Bill Clinton.

  • Morgan

The liberals have got it backwards again. If they don’t want anyone watching FOX, they should make a sticker that says, “Don’t turn on FOX.” It will save them a lot of trouble. They don’t even have to look up the correct channel number.

  • Ninja

    Tell yourself one thing.

When you see someone that defaces one of their top financial investments with a bumper sticker what do you normaly think? The first thought that enters my mind is “IDIOT” which is why you don’t see many smart people defacing their own property with stickers like coexist. That plus the libs / union thugs love to break windows when they see a right leaning sticker.

why are left-wingers like 10times more obnoxious than anyone else. Name calling, temper tantrums, hyperbole, and just pure denigration. Oh and getting loud.

Sure there’s some right-wingers that are extreme but not like lefties, usually just in their views. I guess Limbaugh would be one, but the left radio peeps are like 5 times worse than him.

the right just seems more civil in disagreeing. Anyway, here’s another 501.c(3). round and round they go, people go from one to another (if there’s no room in the administration) on the left, I don’t know how many organizations they have now. This more advertising for Fox.

You people just don’t get it, when you dismiss peoples view/opinion so casually and with such disregard you create enemies due to YOUR intolerance. fuck the academic aristocracy.

You’re right, Gordon; they are the Fox Reactionary Propaganda shows.

  • http://sharethisurlaboutglennbeck.com/ GlennBeckReview

Here’s a lie of exclusion, Gordon: When Fox interviewed some guy about who is funding Fauf, they didn’t mention that the guy is a major stockholder with … Newscorp! In other words, watching Fox, according to Fox, supports terrorism.

Of course that’s ridiculous, but so is the idea that Fox, donor of $1M to Republicans, is “fair and balanced” or “news” and not right wing propaganda!
