Fox News Blasts Group Planning To Infiltrate Tea Party Events

video

A new organization called Crash the Tea Party is making headlines today after they released their plans to “infiltrate” Tea Party rallies and hold up offensive signs in an attempt to depict them as the “racists, homophobes, and morons” that the group thinks they are. Yesterday and today on Fox News, Megyn Kelly went after the group and tore them a new one. In doing so, she pointed out the obvious flaw in the group’s plan. Video of both segments is below.

While contributor Monica Crowley went over the rails by trying to drag Barack Obama into this by way of Saul Alinsky, she and Kelly are absolutely right about this group will end up hurting their cause more than helping it. And the two women seemed practically giddy as discussed the ramifications of it. Those ramifications are, of course, that no one will ever be able to report on prejudice or misconduct at a Tea Party rally without there being questions that this group was behind it. Hell, Crowley even tries to retroactively crush past allegations of racism in the Tea Party by saying other groups like Crash the Tea Party could have been behind everything!

After the news broke, many bloggers speculated that the Crash the Tea Party website was itself a hoax. Not wanting to lose a good thing, Fox News did another segment on the subject today with Bernie Goldberg basically saying that even if the website is a hoax, it really doesn’t matter. They’re probably right. The idea is already out there and Tea Party advocates have their defense set for any and all future scandals.

Jason Levin, the man behind the Crash the Tea Party website, spoke to the Associated Press recently and he certainly didn’t sound like he was joking. He also doesn’t seem to be a bit aware that he’s making things worse. He was excited that his idea was getting so much press and he continued to push his “brilliant” plan.

“Do I think every member of the Tea Party is a homophobe, racist or a moron? No, absolutely not,” he said. “Do I think most of them are homophobes, racists or morons? Absolutely…Every time we have someone on camera saying that Barack Obama isn’t an American citizen, we want someone sitting next to him saying, ‘That’s right, he’s an alien from outer space!’”

We all know that most party who consider themselves Tea Partiers aren’t bigots. However, there has been proof that some of them are. Now, thanks to this website, it will be much harder to pick these people out and that’s bad for everyone. It’s bad for people who disagree with the Tea Party because it will make it harder to argue with them. And it will make it bad for the many sane Tea Partiers who actually have complaints about their government and don’t want to be stuck protesting amongst racists.

Whatever the case, it looks like Jon Stewart has plenty of material for another segment of “You’re Not Helping”.

Not to defend “Crash the Tea Party” (they’re DEFINITELY not helping), but I’m going to go ahead and state the obvious: Fox News sure does LOVE the tea party movement. Remember last tax day, when their big-name anchors were all hosting events at different locations, and Fox even had custom graphics and promos for the occasion? Imagine the outrage if, say, MSNBC had so blatantly endorsed anti-war protests during the Bush years.

  • Bias-Media

bias or not, at least Fox covered the TEA party Movement…

You can also said that the MSM sure does HATE the TEA Party movement…they sure go out of their way to discredit it…

Democrats and the unions have been doing this for years. As a past organizer and participant in demonstrations I have battled these folks since 1967. The Soviet Union supplied money to the agitators during the Vietnam War. Today it is coming from ACORN and SEIU.

  • Bias-Media

Oh, and btw…the MSM DID in fact so blatantly endorsed anti-war protest…remember Cindy Sheehan?

  • Munch

The TP movement is such a failure that liberals must organize a campaign to smear it.

Sounds like the liberals are running scared again.

  • Olby Sucks

Jason Levin is none too bright. His little plan isn’t going to work, either. We will be looking for his kind and they will be dealt with in the proper manner.

  • timzank

Cubby, when you ask “Imagine the outrage if, say, MSNBC had so blatantly endorsed anti-war protests during the Bush years.” you were kidding right? That’s precisely what they did.

Anti-War Protests Target Wounded at Army Hospital
    Marc Morano
    Senior Staff Writer
Washington (CNSNews.com) – The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., the current home of hundreds of wounded veterans from the war in Iraq, has been the target of weekly anti-war
Code Pink Women for Peace, one of the groups backing anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan’s vigil outside President Bush’s ranch in Crawford Texas, organizes the protests at Walter Reed as well.

And the MSM covered all the 8 protesters outside of Bush’s ranch.

I heard this happy crappy bs on Hannity today. What’s obvious is Hannity and the T-ailgate party are trying to put up an early defense to what will be the Tea Party Stupidity on steroids and the certain to appear signs about birthers and race and communism, etc. so as to blame the ‘vast left wing conspiracy’ Hannity now claims to exist. Hannity is and will always be full of shit.

How desperate the left must be to try to create their own incidents at the tea parties. But they are flailing right now, and are in the uncomfortable position of supporting all these coercive government programs in the face of overwhelming public opposition. It is too painful for the left to admit that people’s rights should be respected over their social engineering schemes, so they are forced into this constant song-and-dance about the violent moms and pops down at the tea party. And now that it has become clear to everybody that there is no violence at the tea party, they have to go stir it up themselves.

@Bill Adkins: Exactly… I was flipping around this morning and happened upon a Christian station that mentioned the website as part of heir syndicated news block. From nothing but the ten seconds, I flashed onto all of the conspiracy theory stuff that has filtered into the comments on this and other websites — the whole “how do we don’t know they’re not liberal plants” rhetoric — so when I got home, I pulled up the Whois to possibly generate a discrediting post for my own blog.

When I checked earlier, the registration info for the site was obviously bogus; The URL is (was) registered to “Ben Franklin” and a reasonable estimation of the address pulls up to the “Independence Historic Park” in Philadelphia, but then a quick Google and a check of Twitter revealed that some rightist blogs had captured the original registration info, which they had traced to what sounds like a legitimate person.

IOW: An obviously misguided “liberal plant”. (He’s misguided because he has successfully given any “wrong” signs or soundbites from the crowd, a shield behind which a lot of others can hide)

A typical dialogue between the Right and Left….

    Q. Mr. Democrat, how do you defend the President’s spending trillions of dollars of money borrowed from the Chinese that he will never be able to repay?

    A. [Grumble] You birthers…racists…teabagging slime.

    Q. But why shouldn’t we be concerned about 15 million Americans out of work and the failure of the stimulus plan?

    A. [Expletive] Violent….stupid…bunch of racists….

    Q. And how can you justify forcing an intrusive government health care program on a public that overwhelmingly opposes it?

    A. Rrrr…full of hate and intolerance…racist redneck….teabagger signs….all Bush’s fault….Dick Cheney’s war crimes….[expletive] Glenn Beck’s mother….Joe the Plumber can take his plumber’s helper and…Sarah Palin’s Facebook page…Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict….bunch of racist teabaggers….etc. etc. etc.

A moderator would be useful too.

Its ironic that this Jason Levin guy sought to validate a stereotype against conservatives and ended validating a stereotype against liberals. He’s an idiot.

  • Cecelia

Whether it’s a internet strawman sockpuppet, or this chicanery, I don’t get the desire to make something worst than you already believe it to be.

If you’ve found something or someone to be bad, why would you then NEED to do this?

If I had to go about this sort of pretense, I’d question my own morality.

    I don’t get it.

  • The Real Royal King

I don’t condone what Levin is planning on doing. In fact, I condemn it.

I also do not condone FOX having effectively sponsored prior Tea Parties nor Tea Partiers like Jeff Merrill, posting above as Olby S***s, threatening violence and intimidation.

We have a trilogy of moral and ethical lapses here.

Hey Racist King, what threatens you about olby sucks’ comment? You a lil ‘noid there Alice? I don’t think even Norah O’Donnel could stretch and misinterpret his comment into a threat. Do you hear things that go bump in the night too?

  • Cecelia

Anyone who resorts to violence should be jailed, but frankly, if you go into a group of protesters as a saboteur, how idiotic are you to imagine that you won’t be manhandled?

    …………………………..
Then you have people like Robert Stephenson who posts here at TRRK and MrGlennBovineKoldys and has threatened violence as well, as can be noted in his posts as Mr. GlennBovineKoldys at this site:

Robert, I too would like to know how you get threats of violence and intimidation from the Olby S***s comment.

  • shootfromthehip

Double false flag Fox fake out.

No one will buy it when they try and pin it all on Dems.

Anyone who has met a racist, and we all know a few, know damn well they vote “R.”

  • felixw

For TRRK anyone who disagrees with him = threats of violence and intimidation

  • Cecelia

    Except when they’re democratic operatives.

  • HanzoSword

    Really….who cares? Only FOX, actually.

Except it may give good popcorn moments.

  • Cecelia

And the operative who plan to do it care enough to bother doing it.

    But then…that’s the point.

  • http://www.sailrabbits.com Magister

Yikes! I commented previously without watching the video and now that I’ve seen it, I have to give the Crowley woman credit for not only giving the more fringe elements of the group cover, but she also managed to hit on every ridiculous internet meme that has been floated over the past few weeks.

  • ImNotBlue

I love it. Some folks are accurately pointing out that there will be fake protesters trying to get their picture in the paper. This isn’t new… in fact, it’s a pretty old tactic… except, it’s rarely talked about in such open and oblivious terms.

While the lefties who are committed to hating everything about the Tea Party (and those who don’t think like they do), have decided that they just don’t care. Fake protesters or not… they’ll still blame them for things that may or may not have happened. You gotta give it to them though… they’re commitment to hatred and ignorance is pretty impressive. Now if only they focused their energy on something helpful, who knows what they could accomplish?!

  • http://www.sailrabbits.com Magister

@ImNotBlue: If memory serves, he’s a middle school science teacher from Oregon who registered a domain on the 3rd. Then, I’m going to guess he tweeted, perhaps posted a few blog comments, then some AP writer got wind and suddenly something that cost an unorganized nobody less than $20 and maybe a day’s worth of work is front page news across the country.

I don’t know what it says about the Tea Party, the “left” or any of that, but I’d say it doesn’t reflect well on the Associated Press or any mainstream, non-political, middle-of-the-road publications that promoted some dude’s pipe dream to a ridiculous extreme.

  • Cecelia

Magister, I always admire your level-headed posts.

Regardless of how few or many people have responded to this man’s plot, the Teaparty Movement will be less effective until they become a more cohesive group, with a structured message, and the ability to police their ranks.

Yet even with this fact, all the saboteurs in the world, and media members with huge appetites for marginalizing the Tea Party folks (in the way that was not the case for all the Truthers, anti-Zionists, and anti-capitalists within Code Pink), won’t be able to drown out the Tea Party message if the Administration fails to turn around the economy and the prognostications for the deficit.

    No profundity here.

Mag… my comment referred to the folks above.

This guy isn’t doing something unique. The idea of crashing a protest (as I said before) isn’t new. However, his occupation or how much it cost him to produce this really isn’t relevant. I’m not sure what the point is.
