Jon Stewart Gives Andrew Breitbart the Voldemort Treatment

On last night’s Daily Show, host Jon Stewart presented a segment called “You’re Not Helping,” in which he mocked the Harry Reid supporters who protested and egged the Tea Party Bus Tour this weekend. While the show’s production staff paid sufficient attention to detail to isolate a Zapruder-like still of the perpetrator, it seems as though they missed a larger detail. Or did they?

Conservative neo-Barnum Andrew Breitbart is featured in the clip, yet Stewart makes no mention of him. Was it a snub, or did Stewart simply not recognize Breitbart?

It’s hard to believe that no one on The Daily Show staff noticed that Breitbart was in the clip. The guy is everywhere these days. I ate a fortune cookie last night, and there was a profile of Breitbart inside. Also unlikely is that they couldn’t think of any jokes. Is there a Stewart/Breitbart feud in the offing? For the sake of cheap, easy content, I hope so.

The Daily Show usually mocks the substance of the story—not who is in the story.

Is “FoundingBloggers” another Breitbart site? I don’t see him listed in the “about”; YouTube appears to be hosting all of their videos and the sight of Breitbart is so brief, you’d have to be fan or a media site junkie to have noticed. Not to mention that part of the clip is in an MSNBC box, so I’m guessing that if Jon Stewart or his staff are familiar with Andrew Breitbart, they didn’t recognize his voice.
