Fox News Reporter Major Garrett Latest Celeb To Contract H1N1 Virus
It happened to MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta. It may have happened to Anderson Cooper.
After a summer of Celebrity Swine Flu Watch, Mediaite has learned Fox News White House correspondent Major Garrett is the latest reporter to contract the H1N1 virus, or Swine Flu.
Garrett updated his status Thursday on Twitter after missing a few days last week:
Hey, Tweeps! Not on vacation. Not in witness protection (they say my request is “pending”). Seriously, been down w/ flu. Back 2 WH Monday
Tweeps! Thanks 4 the get well wishes. Deeply appreciated. Don’t have precise diagnosis, but my new BFF = Relenza. U do math.
Today he wrote: “Hey, Tweeps! At Harvard today, talking to Kennedy School abt journalism & politics. I will miss the briefing, but not a grilling.”
Garrett was on the air once yesterday, but from outside the White House in a report on The Fox Report. There’s no word yet whether his diagnosis will mean he has to stay out of the White House for now.
While he only appeared on air once yesterday, he was mentioned quite a few times, as the ongoing White House/Fox News feud escalates. Still, the White House has consistently made it a point to exclude Garrett from their complaints about the network.
We’ve reached out to Fox News for comment, and will update when we know more.

After years of the cringe-worthy pronunciation of nu-cu-lar during the Bush White House, it seemed like we finally had an administration who had a litmus test in staffing their National Security detail - pronounce the word "nuclear." Not so. During an interview to discuss Iran's weapons program with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell today, National Security Chief of Staff Denis McDonough definitely uttered the term Nucular. Gotcha! Right-wing critics eager for payback? Go! Video after the jump.
