George Clooney Does Not Think Steve Martin And Alec Baldwin Are Funny

Was George Clooney part of the act or was he really as disgusted with Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin’s opening act as his face seemed to suggest. Twitter seems to think the former…but wouldn’t it be great if it were the latter? George Clooney is the Wayne Gretzky of the Oscars! Video below…make up your mind for yourself.

Clearly this was part of the act. The whole point of the gag was that the hosts didn’t want to mess with Clooney, and he was instructed to play the part.

    Who cares?

No political “jokes” or commentary yet?

If it weren’t part of the act, I would agree with Clooney. Very flat by Baldwin and Martin ….

    Clooney is a pinhead, regardless.

I’m sure he is really stung by your criticism, Jeff. I know if I were a dashing multimillionaire with women throwing themselves at me (and probably men, as well, which would be more relevant in your case), with considerable acting talent, whose charitable outreach and political acumen are commendable, I would wish I were a cowboy wannabee with a stupid avatar.

There’s a massive dose of that good ole hypocrisy from the faux royal king! Thanks philby! ;)

Hey, ratings up a wopping 9 points from last year…

they don’t have Bush to kick around anymore and don’t dare to any Obama jokes (yet).

Now if they could just get rid of the ponderous commercials; at least during the Superbowl, the commercials are ENTERTAINING!!!

    “…do any Obama jokes…”

I thought the joke was that they were playing up the gratuitous attention Clooney invariably gets at the Oscars, even when, as this year, he didn’t really stand a chance to win. Clooney always looks like he was born to wear a tux. But fact is, these shows are tightly scripted – I saw Bruce Villanch’s credit scroll past at the end.
