Glenn Beck Reacts To Report Of ‘Influential Republicans’ Seeing Him As GOP Liability

Video

On his radio show today, Glenn Beck was having a good time laughing at the fact that the Washington Post was reporting on Time Magazine reporting that many influential Republicans were meeting with Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch to warn them that Beck was a huge liability. Beck believes it to be true, agreeing that many Republicans actually do hate his guts.

Beck’s potentially sarcastic response: “I believe the Republicans, especially those really influential Republicans, are a liability to Republicans.” He even joked that he too will be discussing his concern with Ailes.

Beck also mentioned how strange it was to see his new critic, Bill Kristol, appear on MSNBC this morning, and was amazed that critics from the right and the left were dismissing him as a conspiracy theorist. “I’ve not seen this kind of ‘Glenn Beck is crazy and it’s a conspiracy’ ever, on anything we have done, like it is now, on what’s happening in Egypt.” Regardless, Beck promised on his television show today to continue discussing the caliphate and exploring how he doubts democracy will take root in Egypt.

Beck is correct. Republicans are going to be far more influential than he is. I can’t wait to watch states vote out Rinos. Maybe I should invest in popcorn?

It’s 2011 now. How has Milbank’s “Ignore Palin” month gone? Epic fail.

    That’s just plain funny!

Glen Beck isn’t running for a Republican nomination.

I personally want a leader that doesn’t get manipulated by target groups.

    We’ll see. It would appear I’m a RINO. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

I speak for myself and my family not for anyone else…but I am empathetic!

It still amazes me that some dude with a cable show at 5pm gets the entire “intelligensia” in such a tizzy.

Presidential material. WI has the RNC Chair, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker and Ron Johnson. How’s that Tea Party working out for ya now? :)

I ask because I am from Wisconsin, lived there for more than 25 years, and still have family there. Presidential material? Wow. That’s a bold statement. He’s only been governor for a few weeks.

  • http://TheDividedStatesBlog.com Publius219

He is a liability. He turns off independents. And not the conservative “independents” who really are just Republicans, but the actual independents whose votes swing from year to year and decide elections.

I’m from the younger generation and only recently (last Fall) moved back to WI. I lived in CA for 3 yrs while I was getting a masters degree. I interned in CA politics while out there for a bit too.

I much prefer the Redness of WI and am happy that he turned down the high-speed rail. I’m waiting for him to be a version of Christie in NJ. WI is a HUGE Tea Party state so it’s fun to watch people examine our “battleground” fever.

In all fairness, I think that Ryan is my top pick for President (even if he’s in the House) and I like Johnson overall. All three could be Presidential if you ask me now.

I’m with you, Paul Ryan is my boy. I see big things in his future.

Semper_Map, I totally agree with you. The liberal media wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if Beck and Palin weren’t around. If liberals truly felt like they were a liability, they would sit back and let them bury themselves. The fact that they HAVE to comment on every syllable they utter speaks volumes.

Hasn’t Ryan on numerous occasions stated he has ZERO intention of running in 2012?

It’s called driving page views, viewer numbers, subscriptions, etc. Corporate media is all about the green. As long as it generates interest and increases page views and viewership and magazine/newspaper sales, they will cover it.

Yes – but if you can’t create your own buzz about actual news stories, that’s a pretty sad affair. It’s telling when you have page views over a political figure like that. Do you think that Obama or Palin gains more scrutiny? I can tell you from Huff Po that there are more violent postings against Palin. It’s quite tragic.

Now don’t get me wrong, Ryan isn’t perfect to me, but I’d be willing to take those lumps because he’s in a liberal district and I trust that maybe he understood implementation as different to who it was actually implemented.

Actually, Shep does not routinely beat his Fox colleagues. He does crush his competition, though. Beck gets crazy ratings. Bret Baier loses some of that audience, Shep loses more and then the mobs charge in for O’Reilly. Of all the prime time cablers, O’Reilly is the undisputed heavyweight champ, Beck is second. And he occasionally beats Bill O.

Since that is a big revelation to a person who wasn’t paying attention in 6th grade.

Beck is correct. Republicans are going to be far more influential than he is. I can’t wait to watch states vote out Rinos. Maybe I should invest in popcorn?

    RINOs like “Bill Nelson”? LOL!!!

    Pablo says:

Actually, Shep does not routinely beat his Fox colleagues. He does crush his competition, though. Beck gets crazy ratings. Bret Baier loses some of that audience, Shep loses more and then the mobs charge in for O’Reilly. Of all the prime time cablers, O’Reilly is the undisputed heavyweight champ, Beck is second. And he occasionally beats Bill O.

You are correcto. I was just pointing out to Nice Thought that FOX views are indeed interested in NEWS. It was a stupid statement.

  • Liberal Tormentor (formerly Seeing 2012 From My Window)

    Nice thought says:

Beck is distant third behind hannity last couple of months.

You need to take into account when their shows air. Hannity is in prime time and Beck is at 5 PM eastern. Big difference.

  • timcajun

In just a few minutes Beck took credit for the first to notice the banks to be in trouble and that there are problems in the middle east! Wow, Beck you have so much insight! Your right sooo often! You think the sun might shine tomorrow Glenn? The sheep and I will be here to say “he was right again”!

That’s because at 5 pm there used be straight news on Fox. You and I both know, fox viewers aren’t into the “elite news” stuffs. So ya, when a conspiracy theorist come along, they are going to follow.

    .
I thought Beck replaced John Gibson. I don’t consider Gibson a straight news guy.

Glen Beck has some screw loose inside his head. It is grossly unfair for anyone to criticize Beck cos he is clinically insane. He needs psychiatric help and we need to help him out before it is too late. Beck is already drinking his urine and eating his sh*t. that is a symptom of a very disturbed individual. I will be launching a Beckathon to ask for donations to cure his brain illness cos we need Beck.

Lost in the “leftist lynching” of Glenn Beck is the fact that Bill Kristol was ALSO criticizing the opinions of CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER- a fact ignored by the media in its assault on Beck.

Sort of. Gibson went off the air in March ’08 and was replaced by a pure politics show, America’s Election HQ, briefly followed by America’s News HQ (after the election) until Beck came on. So, Beck was the first permanent replacement, but it took a while. I miss Heather Nauert. :(

    And the MSLSD lineup.

  • Jerps

Monday’s total-viewer rating order was O’Reilly, Hannity, Baier, Beck, Shep, Greta.
Monday’s (more important) 25-54 demo order was O’Reilly, Hannity, Beck, Shep, Baier, Greta.

Interesting that Larry’s total-viewership is about what Keith got but the 25-54 demo puts him below Maddow, and Ed’s losing to Anderson.

O’Reilly is far-and-away the leader. Might explain why he’s slowly shifting to the elder-statesman role at FNC (or it’s just age). Also, FNC could justify a schedule changeup with Sean losing 40% of Bill’s lead-in.

For pity’s sake, the legacy media is spending all its time “reporting” on the opinions of ITSELF on Glenn Beck, instead of working the important stories happening all around us.

Does anyone in the legacy media ask themselves WHY is it that a GOOGLE EMPLOYEE being credited with inciting the demonstrations in Egypt? Isn’t this just a little odd, especially given the overly close relationship between Google and the Obama Administration.

In the scheme of things, Glenn Beck is of minimal importance to the financial and political morass that this country has been dragged into over the past several years. If you want to know why MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC are no longer trusted to deliver unbiased news, look at the current coverage of issues of importance- it’s the media’s insistence on reporting on ITSELF and its OPINIONS that dominate coverage rather than the events themselves.

Sean Hannity needs to be replaced By Beck.I don’t agree with any of them on Fox about hardly anything but. I really hate Sean the weasel. If Beck is getting more ratings at 5 than Sean gets at his slot, why not switch them or get rid of Sean altogether? I know, I know, Becks ratings would go from great to astronomical which would probably produce more loons in the world but it would be good for business. I wonder what kind of ratings ole “Wreang Clannity” would get at 5pm (hint: he’d be off of TV in a week). Let me emphasize 1 more time that I HATE SEAN HANNITY. He is a punk, a weasel, a closet homosexual, a Bill-O coattail rider, a racist and a momma’s boy, boy, boy, and i’m sure his penis size is microscopic. He should not be considered of the male gene. I wish I could slap him right across his gerbil face, without him running to law enforcement.

    BTW great point Anne Oakley.

Looks like the Rev. Mr. Beck has discovered the reality behind the face of his masters. First they love you, then they use you, then they disavow you, then they dump you, then they eat you. Pure Machiavellian. I love it.

  • my dogs gone

When Murdoch puts news ahead of income, he will muzzle Beck.
Beck should be an embarrassment to anyone other than the “conspiracy loons.”

And that is why Beck is on at 5 PM rather than on during primetime.
He is cartoonish and not ready for the adult viewing audience.

  • X-3

It could well be that these “influential Republicans” aren’t as influential as they are made out to be. For my part of it only about 40% of them are really worth their salt, the rest are either elitists or RINOs–you choose the term you think best fits. Still, in all, only about 80% of the Democrats are worth their salt; the rest have been co-opted by the lunatic fringe and gain reelection by playing to the entitlement crowd. I mostly vote Republican NOT because I support the candidate but because I cannot tolerate voting for the Democrat. NEITHER party owns me and my puny little vote.

  • Rockycomet

Don’t like him and don’t watch him, but every now and then I take peak for a good chuckle. Especially the Yoda thing that was a knee slapper. It’s guy’s like Beck that make me want go from Republican to Independent.

I guess so but it’s only because he always wants to start some of his lame-brained crap with me and the fact that he sits around dreaming stuff up about Beck. I actually do pity the man–Glenn Beck lives in his head 24/7.

    X-3 says:
“I guess so but it’s only because he always wants to start some of his lame-brained crap with me and the fact that he sits around dreaming stuff up about Beck.”

Another manipulated victim of Beck-speak. Look, It’s so weird: when my wife listens to Beck, she gets “an overwhelming feeling of evil” too. I asked her why, and she said that she could tell that he is a liar by HOW he speaks.

I’m more empirical and philosophically trained. Beck lies and we prove this day after day. I have a long list of posts detailing Beck’s false claims, and I don’t post nearly all the ones I know about. I have a large unused file detailing many of Beck’s lies.

Beck is on the wrong side of history again, but — not surprising — he was on the side of democracy in the Middle East in support of Bush’s war of choice against Iraq. He hasn’t changed his mind: Glenn Beck is a hypocrite through and through. I prove this with facts and logic over and over again. And this begs the question: why does Beck has such a large following?

Yes, he’s persuasive and cunning and gifted. He’s also highly skilled at manipulating his viewers; Beck is a master manipulator. Why else would more of his followers not hear the lies I could detect before starting The Glenn Beck Review. He programs his viewers to dismiss any and all criticism of him, no matter how factual and unbiased, no matter how honest. This has led me to a recent re-evaluation of his intellect as of late. He’s still ignorant about the world, but he’s very bright, clever, gifted, persuasive and intelligent. It’s taken a while to see that, but the link about his manipulation skills forced me into rethinking just how smart he is.

It’s still all about Glenn Beck. His motivations, according to Beck’s biographer, Alex Zaitchik, “are, and have always been, money and fame. If Beck has a true religion, it’s not Patriotism. It’s not Mormonism. It’s cross-platform self-marketing.” Those who do not grasp this about him, can not hear his lies or hypocrisies, do not recognize that this uneducated, ignorant man is a charlatan and yellow propagandist, are victims more than they are supporters. They are to be pitied, not respected.

If X-3, the sock puppet, were interesting in actually obtaining information, he’d know that I get a lot of help from others. I don’t dream up anything about Beck, but he isn’t interested in facts, just another victim of Beck speak. So sad, so pathetic.

I guess that means you’re both nuttier than a squirrel turd.

I’ve spent a lot of years reading people and assessing situations. Given my success (the fact that I’m still on the sunny side of the grass), it should be obvious that I have done a decent job. As for Glenn Beck, I do not believe everything he has said but EVERY time I have answered his charge to look it up for myself, I have found (at independent sources) that he was providing FACT. This is more than I can say for your claims.

It bothers me that Glenn Beck sometimes uses language I think is not fitting for all audiences. Other than that, I admire the man for having turned his life around. It proves to me that anyone in this country can enjoy success if they work hard, play by the rules, and provide a product that other people find worthy of consumption.

So, for all I’ve heard from you, I walk away with only one assessment: You’re delusional, and you could probably benefit from some time on a shirnk’s couch.
