Barking Mad! Glenn Beck Wishes The Stimulus Package A Happy Birthday

your moment of glenn

Hello America. Glenn Beck has baked your stimulus package a cake. Two actually. And then he smashed them together to demonstrate…the ‘effectiveness’ of President Obama’s now year-old plan to fix the economy. It’s a bit like the four-year birthday party you always wanted but never got. That’s all.

UPDATE: As it turns out, that is not all. Never count your dogs before they’ve barked. And Glenn Beck is barking mad over Obama’s handling of the economy! Literally. “It’s like a pack of wild Cujo’s ripping up the flesh of the American people!” Happy Stimulus Birthday, America…the awesome clip below; it’s one that I imagine will get played and replayed by everyone hoping to peg Beck as absolutely crazy.

CNN celebrated it with a birthday cake also, but theirs had a pie chart on it about how effective the stim was. And we wonder why CNN has no viewers!

Glynnis, you simply must add the barking scene from today’s show.

  • Glynnis MacNicol

It’s coming! I promise. Should be up in five minutes or so…I am still laughing.

  • TfT

As am I; I especially liked his comment when he came back from break….tying it to the Westminster dog show. Trying all the current news together in one terrific segment.

  • Olby Sucks

    Glenn Beck=spot on! Great stuff!

  • parakeeta

What are Glenn-or-Glenda’s credentials? I mean, other than being an alcoholic dropout?

  • StewartIII

    LOL!!! GLENN IS AWESOME!

  • germ

Parakeeta. His credentials are hard work and teaching himself about history through literature. I know you progressives don’t know anything about hard work, but when you do, your minds will be blown and you won’t be so hateful.

  • parakeeta

The ability — indeed, the willingness, the need — to suspend facts and embrace stupidity is a truly a hallmark of the America-Hating right. This guy is a joke, he knows nothing, he has no academic background (unless one includes having a GED). All respectable academic, financial and government organizations agree that the stimulus packages created at minimum 2,000,000 jobs, yet the right wingnuts listen to know-nuthin’ Beck. It’s sad, and utterly pathetic. But, Beck confirms their ignorance, so that counts for something, I guess.

  • same2u

One more Glenn Beck show I refused to watch. Apparently conservatives have their own type of humor that only they understand.

    P.S.
Stewie, where is today’s link that nobody clicks?

  • parakeeta

    germ says:

“Parakeeta. His credentials are hard work and teaching himself about history through literature. I know you progressives don’t know anything about hard work, but when you do, your minds will be blown and you won’t be so hateful.”

Stuff it, Mary. Fact is, Glenn-or-Glenda knows shit about economics. She’s an ignorant ass, a fool. But, you like her, and what does that say about you? For myself, I listen to, you know, economists who know what the fuck they are talking about?

Message is: stop hating America and get an education.

  • TfT

Parakeeta – give your hatred a rest for the evening, watch the clips and enjoy a good laugh.

PS: Even the administration can’t get its act together on how many jobs “were created or saved”.

Really, click on the videos and laugh out loud, it will do you some good.

Glynnis: Thanks for adding the barking scene, a classic for sure.

  • germ

Again, the hate-filled progressives can’t dispute the facts. Although they claim they are the “civil” group, their only tactics is to try to insult and shut someone up. Too bad I know who I am – I have an education, I work hard, and I have lived all over the country leading me to understand the different American communities and cultures.

Please tell, what makes your education so much better than mine?

Really? All? Please provide a -complete- list of links to the web pages of these “respectable” institutions that agree on the 2 million+ number.

  • Grammie

Same, did you have to work hard to become so arrogantly foolish or did it just come naturally?

Yeah! That is a great poll alright!

  • roxsteady

Beck is an idiot! It’s typical that dumb asses who are also uneducated eat this up. By the way if you want to see the clip you could have checked out Media Matters. How anyone could think barking at a giant tv screen is a sign of intellect is beyond stupid. Is this a debating skill he picked up while educating himself? This is the same asshole who said the Progressives were trying to push Separation of Church and State. Maybe this drunk should check out the Constitution! Olbermann is right. Beck is an escaped mental patient! By the way, I take it you dildos didn’t catch Rachel’s bitch slap of Beck last night. He showed you idiots who watch his show an edited clip of Rachel Maddow bitch slapping him. Of course Rachel showed the entire clip and ended by telling him to back off! No wonder him mother killed herself! She should have taken him with her!

  • same2u

I never talk back to grannies no matter how dense they are!

  • Ted

    germ –
“I know who I am”, well I thrilled for you. You sound like all the rest of the Glenn Beck sheep who are generally white, uneducated, pissed off about who knows what and can’t think for themselves. Instead they let some moron who taught himself history “through literature’ tell them how to think. Got any idea what that “literature” might be? I hear Becks reading some “literature” that argues that the sun actually revolves around the Earth.

  • roxsteady

This just in from CNN – Last month was the warmest January since 1999. Now, what do you suppose Professor Beck would attribute this to? Bob Cesca has it just right!

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/17/business/economy/17leonhardt.html

“Imagine if, one year ago, Congress had passed a stimulus bill that really worked.

Let’s say this bill had started spending money within a matter of weeks and had rapidly helped the economy. Let’s also imagine it was large enough to have had a huge impact on jobs — employing something like two million people who would otherwise be unemployed right now.

If that had happened, what would the economy look like today?

Well, it would look almost exactly as it does now. Because those nice descriptions of the stimulus that I just gave aren’t hypothetical. They are descriptions of the actual bill.

Just look at the outside evaluations of the stimulus. Perhaps the best-known economic research firms are IHS Global Insight, Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody’s Economy.com. They all estimate that the bill has added 1.6 million to 1.8 million jobs so far and that its ultimate impact will be roughly 2.5 million jobs. The Congressional Budget Office, an independent agency, considers these estimates to be conservative.”

Thanks for watching so I don’t have to, Mediaite!

  • TfT

WOW – what a hate filled post rox. I hope the moderators come in a delete it; it adds nothing of value to the conversation.

I notice you didn’t dispute any of the facts that Beck discussed before and after his dog barking routine. He was, as usual, exactly correct. $75B more; fake congressional districts; fake zip codes. Those are factual, but hey, if you chose to wallow in your hatred, have at it.

  • germ

Thanks Bamman! I completely missed that!

. . . President Obama said Wednesday. The stimulus act has created 2 million jobs, he claimed, predicting 1.5 million more this year from the program.

Is it just a coincidence that the 3.5 million jobs he is claiming is exactly what the White House predicted early last year? We doubt it. But whatever the case, Obama’s claims are false.

The claim that stimulus has “created or saved” 2 million jobs is complete fiction. It rests on the obviously false idea that money can be taken from the productive private sector and given to the nonproductive public sector and create a net gain in jobs.

    Rox,
You mean the constitution that excludes the word “God”? Zealots don’t like that when you bring it up to them.

    L.O.L!

Thanks for the laugh it’s been a rough day at work.

  • Azarkhan

    From ABC News today-

The United States currently owes over $12 trillion to its debtors – that’s more than fifteen $787-billion economic stimulus packages worth of cash. Divided out, each American bears a $40,000 share of the country’s tab.
“The American people today are not remotely prepared for the changes that are necessary,” said former Congressional Budget Office director Rudolph Penner.

  • Ted

TfT – Are you living in a cave? Do you realize that Becks “facts” have been shredded over and over again? Using Glenn Beck and “facts” in the same sentence can give you gas.

  • The Real Royal King

The rightists simply can’t stand the fact that President Obama stopped W’s economic free-fall, and they’re absolutely despondent that the economy seems to be improving. As for me, I am amazed. I never thought we’d save America from the W Depression. For all his faults, President Obama has performed a miracle along the lines of the 1960′s German economic miracle. While I am pleased, I do feel the pain of my little rightists friends who so wanted America to fail. My particular condolences to Johnny-Jeff and Grammie. Please take heart that America is simply stronger than your desire that it fail.

  • roxsteady

Exactly same2u! They truely have an aversion to facts. I’m sure they won’t like this one either.
This is from Andrew Leonard of Salon.com

“The annual top 400 report was first made public by the Clinton administration, but the George W. Bush administration shut down access to the report. Its release was resumed a year ago when President Obama took office.

Because you know, if you are going to reward the richest Americans with tax cuts, it’s best if you keep the rest of us in the dark as to just how much money they’re making, and how little they are paying Uncle Sam”

Now, since I’m sure that on one on this site makes that kind of money I have a question. Should we allow those tax cuts to expire as the President wants? I mean, it’s not as if they produced one job over 8 years. What happend to those investments that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for the rich were supposed to produce?

  • Azarkhan

Of course, regarding my previous post, ABC News IS known to be full of Tea Party wackos.
BTW, what was on VP Bidens forehead? He should have asked out of that press conference.

So did I. I had to make a U-Turn to go back to Church this morning.

  • JimW

Hi Ted, I think we both can agree that Glenn Beck is presenting the best political theater on TV today. Like him or hate him. he certainly is more interesting than anybody else. Now that we’re friends, I continue to wish you and your family the very best in the coming year.

  • TinaFromTampa

    This man is absolutely certifiable.
    H. L. Mencken would be proud.
P.S. I’m sure TfT is thinking about the two good sheet cakes….

  • lanquihue

On the west coast, I don’t get to see Beck as he comes on too early. Thanks for those clips, Beck might be good theater, but what makes him popular is he tells it like it is. I get mega-pissed that congress thinks that over and over and over they can just tell people what they want to hear. That’s coming to an end, because of people like Beck.

  • blueblogger

Why is it I think TinaFromTampa and TfT are the same person with a split personality???? Are there any more personalities we haven’t met yet???

  • TfT

Blueblogger: the poster here, who calls herself TinafromTampa is really poster NotsoAnonymous from TVNewser (she even admitted it on this board a while back); she is my personal stalker, she follows me around the web, attacks me in every post. It is her sole reason for posting. Indeed, the TfT that I use here is short for my TVNewser identity of TinafromTampa; NotsoAnonymous is a very sick individual who is obsessed with me, she has been stalking me for over a year now. It’s kind of creepy and she really needs help, but for some reason refuses to get it. At some point I would have thought she would have gotten sick of being known as the site pest/stalker, but it seems to turn her on or something. She is a very sick individual.

  • Ted

languihue – You can count on Glenn Beck to never ever tell his audience what they want to hear.

  • lanquihue

Okay Ted, so what I’m getting here, is that when a politician tells me what he thinks I want to hear, that’s cool, but if a political activist tells me what he thinks I want to hear, he’s a douche, no?

  • Azarkhan

From Bill Maher (on Larry King):

“The Democrats don’t get it…Americans aren’t bright enough to understand the issues. But like an animal, they sense strength.”

Gee Bill, we’re sorry. Everyone isn’t a genius like you. But give us time and I think we can eventually grasp the issues. Yes, give us until November. That should be just about enough time.

  • Josh

  • Jim R

    Hey, germ,

“Just look at the outside evaluations of the stimulus. Perhaps the best-known economic research firms are IHS Global Insight, Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody’s Economy.com. They all estimate that the bill has added 1.6 million to 1.8 million jobs so far”

Please notify the above referenced research firms that you disagree with the Times’ reporting on their research.

I’ll wait right here for their clarification, along with your data that proves them wrong as well, of course. Thank you.

TfT how does Tina from Tampa know where to look for you????

Whoa! WHOA! On what planet is that anywhere close to true? And here I thought Obama said unemployment would go above 8%!

Got any evidence for me on this claim, or making stuff up again?

Oh, I also like ho you disparage people who don’t pay thousands of dollars for an extra piece of paper to hang on their wall. I guess all that talk about how we need to “help and educate the poor” with night classes, and extra programs, and ESL classes, and so on is really just BS. You think those people are stupid and should simply shut up. Keeta, why do you hate the poor and uneducated so much? Don’t you have any sympathy or compassion?

Why do you refer to Beck as a “she?” Is that you less-than-subtle way of attacking his manhood… somehow implying he’s a woman, and that’s a bad thing? Why are you such a misogynist, Keeta? Why the sexism?

  • Ted

languihue – No. They have a product to push and Becks products is bullsh*t (fear, angst, end-of-life-as-we-know-it, etc.) and it works out well for him because there are plenty of people who apparently enjoy bs. Those people would be gone in a heartbeat if he actually said anything that made sense.

  • The Real Royal King

I am amazed. I never thought we’d save America from the W Depression.

I didn’t think we would, either. Of course, the “we” includes largely hard-working, calm American men and women, a mere handful of public servants and, as best I can tell, only an odd Republican office holder. If we had to rely on the Republicans, we would have been deafened by a chorus of “No, NO, N O” before we even hit the abyss.

  • TfT

Same: I agree (re: your post about Steve and TVNewser).

  • writer

As Monk used to say (I still miss that show), here’s the thing. The heart of the matter isn’t whether Beck is always right, or always wrong, or half and half. It’s that the left can’t stand for anyone to dare disagree with them. Ever. I saw the clip where Rosie O’Donnel and Garofolo were discussing who was ‘dumb’. Anyone disagreeing with Obama was ‘dumb’. (And also racist, ‘straight up’.) It’s not that people disagree with Obama. It’s that the left agrees with Obama, so anyone disagreeing with him is disagreeing with them. Something the left will not tolerate. The left are intellectuals. The unwashed masses are ‘anti-intellectual’.

  • The Real Royal King

Despots always denigrate and demonize intellectuals. This creates a stagnation, in fact, full blown septicæmia. In our modern era, we have seen this in soviet Russia, loyalist Spain, Duvalier Haiti, Afghanistan, North Korea and elsewhere. Artistic development and expression, technological advancement and political discourse all suffer. Society devolves. This is the inevitable by-product of anti-intellectualism. Yet, in our poorer moments, we proclaim it as if it were our salvation instead of our death. I’m not at all clear why we scorn and deride intellectuals. Fear and jealousy, I suppose.

  • writer

What’s neat is how Janeane Garofolo gets to decide on who’s intellectual and who isn’t. Just coincidence, I suppose, that anyone disagreeing with her is on the ‘anti-intellectual’ side.

  • The Real Royal King

For what it’s worth, Writer, Janeane is one of the three or four most creative people I have ever met, and the bvreadth and depth of her knowledge and understanding shapes us all. A bit prickly, to be sure, but an utterly fascinating person. She shames us all.

  • writer

I didn’t know him personally, but I have doubts that Einstein found it necessary to go around telling other people he was smarter than them. And when Janeane says people disagreeing with Obama are exhibiting ‘racism, straight up’, without taking into account that they might actually have honest disagreements with him, that kind of broad generalization doesn’t seem very ‘intellectual’.

  • Olby Sucks

    Indeed, it doesn’t.

  • The Real Royal King

And when Janeane says people disagreeing with Obama are exhibiting ‘racism, straight up’, without taking into account that they might actually have honest disagreements with him, that kind of broad generalization doesn’t seem very ‘intellectual’.

Somehow, I thought Johnny-Jeff might agree with your statement. Some self exoneration, I am sure.

I think you may be generalizing a bit, too, Writer, ad I have not heard Janeane make quite so sweeping a statement. She may well have done so with the Tea Partiers. That is understandable. There is abundant evidence that there are many, many, many racists among the Tea Partiers. There is some stereotyping going on as a result. Stereotypes carry with them some measure of truth, of course. The problem is not with the stereotyping, per se, but with foreclosing nuances, differences and exceptions to the matter being stereotyped. Take for example the despicable Ann Coulter’s description of the Vice President. The Irish do, indeed, consume alcohol at a higher rate than other nationalities. So, some truth in the stereotype. Does the Vice President consume at a higher rate? No evidence he does. The lesson: Tea Partiers Billy Bob, Billy Joe and Bill Ray are in a group with a goodly number of racists. They may well be racists themselves. Tea Partier William Joseph may not be a racist. So, the stereotype might be applied, but we always inquire beyond the stereotype.

  • writer

You’re deflecting again, Royal. We’ve all seen the videos and know exactly where Janeane is coming from. The sneering “I’m better than you” attitude is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. And if you’re saying some stereotypes are based in truth, then why be so selective? Why not bring up black crime rates? DOJ stats say they’re way, way, way higher per capita than for those of any other race. Never hear Janeane tossing that one out. I mean, if you’re saying her generalizing is okay…..
