‘Totally Disgusting!’ Republican C-SPAN Caller Snaps on Host for Allowing ‘Denigration of Donald J Trump’
A Republican caller went off on CSPAN’s Jasmine Wright and the entire organization, accusing them of spending hours a day simply insulting President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday’s Washington Journal, Wright was taking viewer callers and she got one from a Republican identifying as John from Portland, Connecticut. After a brief chat about primary elections in the state the night prior, John laid into Wright, saying he was sick and tired of hearing the president insulted on the show, citing a previous caller who had called Trump an “idiot.”
John accused CSPAN of morphing into networks like CNN and MS NOW.
He said:
One thing I want to get back to, Jasmine, before you hang up on me is. On a Sunday, when Kimberly [Adams] was talking, someone was supposedly denigrating a general. And every day on your show for three hours, I hear more denigration of Donald J. Trump than anywhere. Again, a gentleman, probably a nice elderly gentleman, just called our president an idiot. And you say nothing. You say nothing all the time. And it’s getting to the point where it’s…you guys are out of hand, and someone made a comment last week about your C-SPAN is getting like CNN, MSNOW, and The View, because all you people do is insult our president.
John’s rant was briefly interrupted by the echo of his own voice in the background, but after Wright told him to mute his TV, he barreled forward without missing a beat.
According to John, he was a Democrat until Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2016, and he said he’s disgusted to hear people insult the president on TV because he’d never do that to Clinton or former President Barack Obama. John recommended people “keep it to yourself” and insisted Trump is doing “the best he can.”
He said:
I never did that on air to any president. I would never do that to any president. If you don’t like him, keep it to yourself. But for you people to every day air that and the way your callers insult our president, he’s doing the best he can with what he has and what he was left. So all I say is I’m voting for Republicans until the day I die. I was a Democrat. I voted up Democrat up until Hillary Clinton ran for president.
John called the network and show “disgusting” and warned, “what goes around comes around.”
“For your callers to every day, three hours of insulting our president and his whole cabinet and everything else, it’s totally disgusting, totally disgusting. I mean, I know someday there’s gonna be a Democratic president in there and God forbid what happens because you know what goes around comes around, as they say,” he said.
Wright ended the call and defended the format of the show, arguing the platform gives voices to everyday Americans from both sides of the political aisle.
