Hillary Misidentifies Lincoln as Having Once Been ‘Senator from Illinois’

Abraham Lincoln was, of course, the President of the United States, but before that, for a time, he served in the Illinois state house and eventually the House of Representatives. Hillary Clinton, unfortunately, referred to Lincoln as a “senator” even though Lincoln never served as a senator.

Clinton said, “It was in the very first chapter, the chapter I rightly call ‘Team of Rivals,’ because that’s what it was in the beginning. A senator from Illinois ran against a senator from New York just as had happened way back with a senator from Illinois named Lincoln and a senator from New York named Seward. And it turned out the same way.”

And while it could easily have been such a slip, the office in question was actually important to the content of the bit, so… whoops.
