Politico Reports Herman Cain Accuser Was Paid $45,000 By National Restaurant Association
Politico‘s Jonathan Martin reports that one of the women accusing Herman Cain of sexual harassment received a settlement of approximately $45,000, which is “significantly more than the two or three months’ salary Cain initially recalled the woman obtained.”
Martin, who was one of the original journalists to break the story initially and sparred with Cain outside the studio of CBS’ Face The Nation on Sunday, reported:
The compensation the woman received as part of her departure package was far more than that what a mid-level trade association employee in the late 1990s would have made over a two-to-three month period.
It was also more than the payout a second association employee received after complaining about Cain’s behavior. According to the New York Times, the second woman received $35,000 – a year’s pay.
As Martin mentions in his piece, Cain earlier said in an interview with Greta Van Susteren that he estimated the pay out to be “three months’ salary,” but was “not entirely sure.”
