Stephen Colbert: Basil Marceaux Will Have A Beer With You Whether You Want It Or Not
If it weren’t for the fact they have an excess of material to choose from these days one might wonder whether Basil Marceaux, candidate for Tennessee governor, wasn’t merely a plant by the comedy shows to give them something to talk about during the dog days of summer. Alas, it seems he’s for real.
In case you missed Marceaux’s public debut, he popped up earlier this week on a local news clip that has since gone viral, touting his platforms…such as they are. Suffice to say, he makes Alvin Greene look like a political genius (something I’m not entirely convinced he’s not).
Said Stephen Colbert last night: “People always vote for the candidate they feel they could have a beer with, and it looks like he had several even before that statement. He’d have a beer with you whether you want it or not.”
Struggling to keep a straight face, Colbert then proceeds go through Marceaux’s website including his views on…slavery. Watch below.
