What would happen if a transgender person called into The Rush Limbaugh Show? The world discovered the answer to that question Thursday when “Tina from Colorado” called Rush Limbaugh to confront him over his stance on transgender rights. Contrary to what Tina believed, Limbaugh said, “I’ve been for trannies for a long time.”
When the caller immediately called out Limbaugh for using the historically “offensive” term, Limbaugh was taken aback. “Tranny is offensive?” he asked in disbelief, saying he was under the impression it was acceptable to say because Alec Baldwin used it in his New York Magazine “apologia.”
“That is kind of the minority view on it,” Tina responded, comparing some transgender people’s attempts to “reclaim” the word to black people using the “n-word.” But in general, she informed Limbaugh that the word “tranny” is viewed as a “derisive” insult. “We don’t really appreciate it.”
An increasingly curious Limbaugh asked, “But how do people know that you’re a ‘tranny?'”
Tina explained that people don’t always know, and “that’s part of the problem” when it comes to finding a romantic partner. When Tina said that some people might be worried she was going to “trick” them into thinking she’s a “real woman,” Limbaugh wanted to know how that might happen. How could you prevent someone from knowing your “real” gender, he wanted to know, especially when thinks get sexual.
“Well a lot of times people have oral sex or anal sex in the dark,” Tina explained.
“Oh, that’s right, I didn’t even think of that!” Limbaugh exclaimed. “Oh, you’re right, because everybody has — Oh, gee.”
So thanks to Tina, today Rush Limbaugh learned that a) “tranny” is word he should probably stop saying and b) everyone is capable of having anal sex.
