Trump: We Should Spend Next Few Days ‘Not Debating Party Politics’
Potential Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been a persistent pain in President Obama’s side over many issues, but even Trump was eager to praise Obama’s success in capturing and killing Osama bin Laden. Trump also expressed a desire to refrain from “party politics” during this proud time in American history.
In a statement made public on Trump’s Facebook page, Trump declared:
“I want to personally congratulate President Obama and the men women of the Armed Forces for a job very well done. I am so proud to see Americans standing shoulder to shoulder, waving the American flag in celebration of this great victory. We should spend the next several days not debating party politics, but in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9/11 and those fighting for our freedom. God Bless America.”
Given the near universal praise for Obama’s success here, it seems like a smart strategy for potential Republican rivals to steer clear from engaging in any political squabble over the next few days. Yet when the time comes to challenge the President again on other issues, it’s likely Trump would be the one not afraid to lead the charge.
