Shep Smith Flips Out On Legal Guests Over Baby Lisa: ‘You’re Both Full Of It!’
Fox News’s Shepard Smith became incredibly animated while discussing the Baby Lisa case on Wednesday’s Studio B and took some well placed shots at his guest legal commentators Arthur Aidala and Randy Zelin. The spirited discussion focused on the missing babies unwillingness to cooperate with local authorities, which he saw as “all you need to know.” His guests, however, defended the legal counsel provided to the parents, suggesting that the KC police were just more interested in “closing a file” than actual justice.
Dan Abrams On Baby Lisa: ‘This Is Your Child…You Have To Help (Authorities) Every Way You Can’
On Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning America, ABC legal correspondant and Mediaite Founder Dan Abrams discussed the clash between the family and the police in the Baby Lisa case. Abrams reported that Baby Lisa’s parents will only answer questions from authorities under unusually strict guidelines e.g. if they’re asked fairly and by people who haven’t determined guilt. He noted that this was bringing a real tension into the case as police were treating them as potential suspects. “This is their child who’s missing, and people are going to hear that and say ‘I don’t care what your lawyer is telling you, you have to help them everyway that you can.’” Abrams assessed.
What Could Go Wrong? Geraldo Covers Baby Lisa Story From Zuccotti Park
Give Geraldo Rivera credit. He was undeterred by any animus exhibited towards “corporate media” behemoth Fox News last night by Occupy Wall Street protesters during last night’s live report at Zuccotti Park. Producers of his show Geraldo at Large, however, may not be as deserving of accolades, evidenced by the odd decision to tape a live segment dedicated to the Baby Lisa tragedy amidst the protesters, which in hindsight, probably went better than one could reasonably expect.
CNN Report: Do Missing White Babies Get More Media Coverage Than Minorities?
Missing children have always taken up a significant percentage of non-political media news coverage– whether it be Caylee Anthony or, most recently, Baby Lisa Irwin, who has yet to be found. On CNN this morning, anchor TJ Holmes presented the case of a 5 year old girl named Jahessye Shockley, and asked a question he admitted was uncomfortable: why are the missing children receiving national coverage overwhelmingly white?
