This is why we can’t have nice things. Well, why you can’t have nice things, and by “you,” I mean the conservative blogosphere. Following the Mitt Romney campaign’s first-ever off-the-record meeting with about 60 conservative bloggers, mainly so they could complain about not being fed “scoops” by the campaign, that meeting’s attendees set about making sure it would be the last. The latest is Robert Stacy McCain, who has cleverly posted the names of every attendee the bourbon didn’t erase from his memory.

MSNBC Debunks, Then Covers, Fake ‘German Study’ On Heart-Healthy Boob Ogling

Although they weren’t the first, or only, ones to fall for it, MSNBC deserves some kind of award for its coverage of a hoax study that suggested that men who stare at breasts have healthier hearts than men who don’t. Popular right-wing blogger Robert Stacy McCain (The Other McCain) has used an examination of Julian Assange‘s sexual assault allegations as a springboard to a jaw-dropping assessment of the right of a woman to withdraw consent for sex. Feministe blogger Jill Filipovic makes the point that, whatever their veracity, allegations against Assange are not confined to failure to use a condom, and explains that “no” means “no” even after you’ve closed escrow.

RS McCain thinks this is “unadulterated nonsense,” and provides this handy warning to all of his future dates: “You buy the ticket, you take the ride.”
