Andy Richter Vents Over NBC’s Late Night Debacle During Guest Host Spot

Since Conan O’Brien left as host of The Tonight Show, former sidekick Andy Richter has been laying pretty low. Well good news Team Conan! The affable television start reappeared on our television sets this morning, fitting in quite wonderfully alongside Kelly Ripa as guest host in place of Regis Philbin. Of course, the topic of the late night debacle came up and, shockingly, Richter did not demur. In fact, he sort of gave a remarkably frank, candid and pointed take on the whole mess, and still came out looking good. Video below.

I could go back and look for the citation, but I believe Conan’s buyout from NBC forbids him from giving interviews. And while I don’t know the actual structure of Andy’s deal, one has to assume that any extra for “staff” was paid to Conanco and perhaps Conanco made no such stipulation on the staff buyouts.

…or at least that’s what I’m going to guess and if true, it might bode well for Andy’s future bookings.

I loved it when he said that no one forces mutli-millionaires to do anything refering to Leno. And for Leno the slide has begun, Letterman beat him in the ratings Monday night.

The slide has begun? Is it a steep slide? A shallow slide? A landslide? Ridiculous.

I said it here before and it’s worth saying again. Leno is the biggest Jag Off of all time. He is so done. Everyone saw his true colors and do not want anything to do with his ass.

emdrgmh assumes to speak for ‘everyone’ LOL. A lot of us still think Leno is the best. Letterman is a creepy old guy, and Conan and the masturbating Bear didn’t make a good “Tonight Show” fit. Hate on, haters.
