I’m not sure Palin would be a good president. She is a good conservative; a little to the right of my views, but there’s no doubt about where she stands. Economy was second worst to Hoover’s 1930 mid term, and change of seats was second worst to that election too. ) — Also, history points to the incumbent being much more likely to hold the office.

You can hope for another Carter, but Obama’s approval is higher than Carters (and Reagan’s) at this point in their first term.

I don’t blame the initiative process for California’s horrible state. Their entitlement programs from healthcare to schools has done nothing but increase, as have income taxes from individuals and corporations. Those high taxes, in turn have driven out people and companies. There are many states that are able to function, and in the black, without a high property tax or even without a state income tax. Texas for example has no states income tax, low corporate taxes, and fees – and it’s in the black. Not to mention people are moving there in the droves, and even CEO magazine declared it the number one states for business.

Another STUPID comment, just repeating lib talking points. The BIG Prop. 13 lies. Property taxes just keep people from ever owning their property. They always go up, never down. People that live in their homes for 30 years and pay off their mortage still have to pay rent to the government. The property tax payments were more than the payment they made to buy their house. There should be NO property taxes.

No, I ever even taken tea with the royals. I once attended an exhibition at Victoria opened by Prince Andrew, and I saw Princess Beatrice in Harrod’s and Prince Harry at Heathrow 5, but that is about the extent of it.

And, I have to remind you that the candidates for whom I campaigned in Texas won by 58% or more. So, you’re just being stupid and stubborn.

As for overturning the Bugman conviction, it is a longshot at best. Texas has no intermediate criminal appeals court, and the equivalent of Texas’ supreme court for criminial mattters, The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, has already ruled, in various manners, upon the venue issue. At any rate, 3 of the 12 jurors who unanimously convicted DeLay were Republicans, and they deemed the evidence wholly sufficient. Since conducting business as a corporation is a privilege, not a right, I can’t imagine that the prohibition against corporate contributions to candidates is a viable ground for appeal. The one matter that has my interest peaked is Dick DeGuerin. DeGuerin is possibly the best criminal attorney in Texas, and certainly the most expensive. Late in the trial, he introduced the Bugman’s calendar/journal into evidence. He contained the incriminating date. I have found no one who believes this to have been a mistake. DeGuerin doesn’t make such mistakes. One of the working hypotheses is that DeGuerin knew at that point that DeLay was going to be custom fitted for a hoe and he was setting up an ineffective counsel ground. Of course, that is desperate, almost laughable, but it may be all Bugman has. At any rate, DeLay should take heart. A great number of Texas prisons are clustered around his Sugarland/Forty Bend County home.

As suggested earlier, don’t be too surprised if DeLay doesn’t start singing about his co-conspirators in hopes of probated sentence. I suspect the Travis County DA, Rosemary Lehmberg, will receive an early morning call from Mr. Deguerin.

At any rate, I know it was sobering for you.

Researchers have determined that genetics could matter when it comes to some adults’ political leanings.
According to scientists at UC San Diego and Harvard University, “ideology is affected not just by social factors, but also by a dopamine receptor gene called DRD4.” That and how many friends you had during high school.
The study was led by UCSD’s James Fowler and focused on 2,000 subjects from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health. Scientists matched the subjects’ genetic information with “maps” of their social networks. According to researchers, they determined that people “with a specific variant of the DRD4 gene were more likely to be liberal as adults.” However, the, subjects were only more likely to have leanings to the left if they were also socially active during adolescence.
“It is the crucial interaction of two factors — the genetic predisposition and the environmental condition of having many friends in adolescence — that is associated with being more liberal,” according to the study.
“These findings suggest that political affiliation is not based solely on the kind of social environment people experience,” said Fowler, who is a professor of political science and medical genetics.
The researchers also said their findings held true no matter what the ethnicity, culture, sex or age of the subjects were.

as a member of another board that has moderators for certain threads and guidelines that I find pretty conducive to decent discussions, I’d suggest giving it a try and I’d be interested in applying.

While a moderator sounds like a nice idea, it is unfortunately, not very practical. Acting as “moderator” would add subjectivity to many comments. Maybe you could define the parameters in which a moderator would operate.

Why not a censor, instead. A lot of sites have no swearing rules. Just to be civil. On the other hand, why would we want to lose from our lexicon a perfectly expressive word like fuck, or fuck you?

Soooo true, you will note I was one of the first to comment on the subject here. Not long after there were numerous personal attacks on me. I just respond to those attacks and they can’t take it.
The attacks don’t bother me, in fact I love them. They would not attack if what I posted was not effective. I love giving it back to them because THEY can not take it. Meidiaite is the one that don’t like kicking the libs butt on this site.

Why is it again and again that the FOULIST LANGUAGE used on these posts and most others ALWAYS COMES FROM LIBERALS??? They have no cogen arguments to make so they resort of attacking anyone and everyone with demeaning and vile words. I can almost always spot a Liberal after the first sentence. their language give them away AND SHOWS THEM TO BE THE NASTIEST AND DUMBEST INDIVIDUALS IN AMERICA!!!!

For what it is worth, I tend to believe that Tumbleweed posts only under one name at Mediaite, as do I. She has no proof that I have posted under other names at Mediaite, and she is simply lying.

because he has been outed at other sites, and banned for it. people have posted links to all of his aliases, and the sites. I think they are Olbermann watch and Johnny Dollar, at least those two sites. The site owners know because of his IP. He had like 30 aliases at J$.
