Doubling Down: Gingrich Is Asked Why He Called Romney A ‘Liar,’ Explains It’s Because He, Y’know, Lies

Right now, the biggest video going around in the political world, besides a sweet bootleg of Downton Abbey season two, is a clip of Newt Gingrich calling Mitt Romney and his PAC “liars.” And why wouldn’t it be? In a political landscape where people try so hard to disguise their attacks that “experienced” has now become an insult, someone actually saying what they think is kind of refreshing. Well, the Blunt Talk Express continued today as a reporter asked Gingrich to clarify his comments. Gingrich responded simply that the reason he called Romney a liar was because of, y’know, all those lies he tells.

REPORTER: You characterized Mitt Romney earlier as a ‘liar’-

GINGRICH: No, I was asked did I think he was a liar and I said yes.

REPORTER: Do you still believe he is a liar?

GINGRICH: Sure.

REPORTER: Why?

GINGRICH: Because he doesn’t tell the truth.

Huh. I guess I should spend a bunch of time giving those comments deep and thorough political analysis now. Um…Gingrich thinks Mitt Romney tells lies so…uh…he called him a liar.

Are we all clear?

Ok, I think I’ll go on break now.

Damn!  Looks like a cranium isn’t Gingrich’s only freakishly large body part.

Yes, Uncle Newt, that’ll get you a lot of votes.

Calling a Republican a liar is redundant.

He doesn’t lie.  He just says something.   And then the opposite.

Children running for President. Hello Obama 2012!

He seems genuinely hurt by those attack ads. And he has been getting ripped by Fox News a lot lately, too. Well, Newt knows how to play.

“Mitt romney is poopyhead, because he has poop on his head.”

lol tell the voters the truth and you end up looking like Ron Paul.  Not saying everything he says is a good idea but he is one person that seems to be honest.

the truth is if you tell the public the truth corporations and the rich do a virtual McDonalds-style advertising campaign on  you publicly while executing your career vis-a-vis insiders and lobbyists.  We dont get the truth because we neither want it nor would the majority even understand it( e.g. tax cuts for the top 1% creates jobs and lowers the deficit).

He thought about calling Mittens “a Republican”, or even worse, “a conservative” (Both are polling poorly these days – check out the latest Pew poll.), but then he realized, Hey, I AM the biggest, fattest, greasiest, cross-my-palm-with-silver influence pedlar the Beltway’s ever seen – I better tone it down a bit.

    What a cry-baby bitch.
Has he yet told us just what those lies were? Or is that one of HIS lies?

  • Anonymous

What a pathetic cry-baby.This whining, moaning, and bitching, from the person who ushered in, nay, demanded, negative campaigning in the modern era.Hey Newt, grow up. It’s hardball politics, just the way you envisioned it, and NO ONE gives a rat’s ass about your problems, nor does anyone want to hear your blubbering. And what are those lies, anyway? Or is telling the truth what constitutes negative campaigning in your satanic mind? You vile piece of crap.

Gingrich must like the taste of sole, he just can’t keep his feet out of his mouth.
