Doubling Down: Gingrich Is Asked Why He Called Romney A ‘Liar,’ Explains It’s Because He, Y’know, Lies
Right now, the biggest video going around in the political world, besides a sweet bootleg of Downton Abbey season two, is a clip of Newt Gingrich calling Mitt Romney and his PAC “liars.” And why wouldn’t it be? In a political landscape where people try so hard to disguise their attacks that “experienced” has now become an insult, someone actually saying what they think is kind of refreshing. Well, the Blunt Talk Express continued today as a reporter asked Gingrich to clarify his comments. Gingrich responded simply that the reason he called Romney a liar was because of, y’know, all those lies he tells.
REPORTER: You characterized Mitt Romney earlier as a ‘liar’-
GINGRICH: No, I was asked did I think he was a liar and I said yes.
REPORTER: Do you still believe he is a liar?
GINGRICH: Sure.
REPORTER: Why?
GINGRICH: Because he doesn’t tell the truth.
Huh. I guess I should spend a bunch of time giving those comments deep and thorough political analysis now. Um…Gingrich thinks Mitt Romney tells lies so…uh…he called him a liar.
Are we all clear?
Ok, I think I’ll go on break now.
