FNC’s Major Garrett Reflects On Pissing Off Robert Gibbs Today
The White House briefing had a bit of extra excitement today as Fox News correspondent Major Garrett had a testy exchange with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
Reflecting on the tension a couple hours later, Garrett said he understood why Gibbs got annoyed.
The dissension came about when Garrett brought up that some people reported getting an email today from the White House after never having signed up for an email list before. He questioned whether it could have come from the campaign list, and that’s what set Gibbs off.
Said Garrett after:
That upset him, probably legitimately. I should not have done that because there is no evidence whatsoever that anything that’s at the Democratic National Committee comes anywhere near the White House in this health care debate or anything else. I want to get that on the record, absolutely clearly.
FNC host Neil Cavuto joked after watching the clip, “Major, if you’re trying to get out of the doghouse this little exchange today did not seem to foster that process.”
Major chuckled, but stood his ground. “”Neil I’m not in a doghouse,” he said. “I don’t try to get out of a doghouse, I don’t try to get into a doghouse, I just try to ask questions.”
Despite Garrett’s admission about one aspect of his question, Gibbs still didn’t give an answer. It will get replayed, and written about, and Gibbs will have to address the issue soon.
Here’s the clip from Cavuto today:

Thank goodness for Major, without him, the WH would walk all over the citzenry of this country. I had hope for Tapper, but after yesterday “we debunked the “death panels”" he said “what more can we do, I give up. BTW: Palin won this debate, the Senate has removed all language associated with “end of life counseling”. LOL
I bet Katie is just peeing in her pants and Charlie “are we fighting a holy war” Gibson won’t report it, and Bowing Brian — well he is a lost cause.
Major and Jake Tapper are the only two people interested in asking questions of this administration.
If major garret were so great, why is he investigating trivial subject like chain letters?
Mediaite should have posted the exchange between Megyn Kelly and Bill Burton about the Presidential Records Act and the healthcare emails. Now that was entertainment! Too bad none of the male journalists have the balls to go after the WH cronies like she did.
Is The Man In The Runaway Prius The New ‘Balloon Boy?’

Thank God for the 24 hour news-cycle, without which we would never be able to dig into every public interest story until we hit scandal gold. Like the case of James Sikes, the man behind the wheel of the out-of-control Prius from Monday, and who it is now being reported may not have been as innocent as he seemed when his car's accelerator jammed, speeding up to 94 mph before being guided to a stop by the California Highway Patrol.
Bill O’Reilly Will Not Let This Tom Hanks Thing Go
Bill O'Reilly continued his not-at-all personal attack on Tom Hanks again last night, bringing on retired Lieutenant Colonel and Fox analyst Ralph Peters to discuss why Hanks has to "inject racism" into his new mini-series about the War Against Terror in Hanks' new mini-series with Steven Spielberg, The Pacific. And this has nothing to do with last week, when Tom Hanks made fun of Fox News Italy, as evidenced by the fact that O'Reilly still continues to insist that Hanks is both a patriot and a pinhead.
