Fox News Had Top 11 Cable News Shows In Third Quarter Of 2010

ratings

Fox News had the top 11 cable news shows during the third quarter of 2010 in total viewers and the top nine shows in the A25-54 demographic.

The network also had a few specific shows which reached milestones this quarter.

The FOX Report with Shepard Smith was #1 at 7pmET for the 40th consecutive quarter, dating back to 2000.

• FNC as a whole has been #1 in total day and prime time for 35 consecutive quarters.

Bill O’Reilly had, once again, the top program in both total viewers and the demo. The O’Reilly Factor had its lowest ratings in two years, however.

• FNC ranked 4th in prime time on all of cable – MSNBC was 28th, CNN 34th and HLN 37th.

• In prime time, FNC beat CNN, MSNBC and HLN combined in total viewers. In total day, FNC beat CNN and MSNBC combined.

While all cable news networks almost across the board lost viewers year-to-year, FNC remains far ahead of the pack going into the final, and crucial, quarter of 2010.

Check out the program ranker here.

Cable news is losing viewers across the board? Is this the dreaded trend?

Poor Joy Bewhore. It’s pretty much over when you are losing to “Rick’s List.”

People have tired of her nightly 60 minute “hate -fest.”

Progressives will never learn, they don’t value ratings, they don’t believe in competition. Their mentality is “this is good for you so you’re going to watch it or else.” I know liberals who watch Fox because they enjoy the lively debate and the marketplace of ideas available only at Fox. MSNBC is predictable, everyone there has the same opinions, even so-called “conservative” Pat Buchanan spends more time bitching about republicans than he does about democrats.

Fox is impressive. They are the only news organization that can compete with entertainment numbers. Not that that should tell you anything about their content, or anything. It’s just that Fox manages to make the boring old news so much more exciting than everyone else. Yeah, that’s it! It’s the raw excitement of those same old stories that separates Fox from the pack. It has nothing to do with the fact that Fox is tuned in on every TV screen in nearly every American corporation, nearly every waiting room in the country, and that it’s “news-actors” eschew stodgy “facts” in favor of sensational bursts of raw emotion. No, that couldn’t be it all!

For a benighted lib, you come across quite ignorantly.

This ratings are Nielsen ; they include zero waiting rooms, zero corporations. They are all ratings based on “hard wired” neighborhood homes. That’s why they call them “Nielsen families.

If I didn’t know better, I would say you are purposely lying.

NEW YORK — The company that measures TV viewership announced a significant expansion Wednesday, saying it would triple the number of “Nielsen families” over the next four years to keep better track of new ways of watching television.

Nielsen Media Research said it wants 37,000 homes, with 100,000 people, reporting on its viewing habits by 2011. That’s about triple the current sample size of 12,000 households with 35,000 people.

“The larger you make it, the more stable the data, the more precise the data,” said Sara Erichson, executive vice president for client services at Nielsen North America, “and that’s a very important thing for the industry, which uses this information for currency.”

Know what you are talking about before you post, OK?

First, Nielsen aggregates ratings from both meter technology AND viewer diaries. Their metering technology cannot be perfect because it still comprises an incredibly small sample size for the class (all American TV viewers), and is therefore combined with data from other sources. And Fox is a favorite for telecommuters and executives who spend large amounts of time working from home. Nielsen also uses other sampling techniques to get a snapshot of where and how video is being consumed in a variety of settings, outdoor, POS, kiosk, etc. There isn’t one perfect technology for these things, short of metering every screen in the country.

Second, these kind of long-winded screeds aren’t really well-suited to NSF’s style. Can’t you keep your own bullshit straight?

    LOL

Precisely, it’s the ubiquity of Fox in all these settings that compels people with common interests (politics aside, it’s mostly business people) to stay tuned to Fox when they’re home, especially when they’re able to work from home, which is happening more and more. But I probably should have been more clear on that particular point. ;-)

How desperate they get — comparing individual ratings for a TV show with monthly visitors to a web site. Of course, by this measure, their great heroes — the buffoons Stewart, Colbert and Olbermann — look even smaller. But, funny, they never apply this bizarre math to the kool-aid-drinking shows.

Seems Fox viewers are stay-at-home people, whether they’re telecommuting, lucky to have a job that allows at-home days, or are just waiting for the next government check. Liberals don’t get to stay at home as much, we have to go to jobs we can’t do from home, including [gulp] night shifts! No, Fox viewers definitely fit a different profile altogether. ;-)

I’ve seen another graph/set showing unique visitors with DrudgeReport a couple of notches ahead of the New York
Times site, so who knows where this particular set of numbers came from? Given that Demonrat polls are so dishonest and imbalanced, like the LAT poll showing Fiorina way behind Bobo Botox Boxer, with the respondents selected from 55% Dems, 30% GOP & 9% Indies—giving a good idea of the new age math the Los Angeles Times folks employ!

Let’s face it, the Demonrats will lie, cheat, and steal to get their boys/girls/trannies in office because their nepotistic Big Government agenda means more public sector and more union-thug jobs, the kind which are unproductive and in the union world, you don’t show up to work in, the no-show jobs! So Obama himself, with his stimulus package mandating union jobs in the shovel-ready category, is the biggest threat to America, a real national security menace on the economic and the security fronts at the same time!

Fox isn’t even in the running, and is actually an antidote to the poison the Demonrat Big Government agenda is ladling out.

Conservatives make up 40% of the U.S. population, Independents, who are now leaving Obama, make up 40%, and only 20% of the U.S. population consider themselves Liberals.
