Fox News Releases Preview Of Bill O’Reilly Taking On Lupe Fiasco, The Rapper Who Called Obama A ‘Terrorist’

video

Watching stern, outraged news anchors duke it out with popular musicians is always funny. For some reason, this is especially true if the musicians are rappers are the anchors are on Fox News. I don’t know what it is, but that combination always results in absolute hilarity. They don’t even need to be fighting (see: Glenn Beck quoting Ice Cube for some reason)! So we’ve got high hopes for tonight’s debate between Bill O’Reilly and rapper Lupe Fiasco. Fox News has released a quick clip previewing all the tremendous stammering and awkwardness this culture clash will assuredly have.

While it was only a month ago that O’Reilly was attacking President Obama for consorting with evil gangsta rappers, the tables have now turned and, tonight, O’Reilly will be protecting the President’s honor. Fiasco caught O’Reilly’s eye (as well as, presumably, his special O’Reilly Sense for ratings) when he called Obama a “terrorist.” In the clip released today by Fox News Insider, O’Reilly gives Obama the hearty endorsement that he “is not a terrorist. He’s trying to do what he thinks is the right thing.” Oh, what strange bed fellows we find ourselves with during these Great Rapper Wars.

Watch the clip from Fox News below and, to further whet your appetite, enjoy our old list of O’Reilly’s best rap-related moments.

lol…methinks Lupe is way out of his league.

It would be like O’Reilly trying to make a rap album.

  • edisciple

Wow, that short clip shows a civil & decent argument on both sides. Lupe’s point is understandable. It’s not like his alone in his anti-war rhetoric. It’s refreshing, although I agree with O’Reily, that anti-war person would call out Obama, albeit a ignorant conclusion, the leftist President! You go Lupe for at least connecting the dots unlike so many supposedly educated elitist media folks.

  • The Lantern of Truth

And now he is a famous Fiasco .

  • Emma

Is O’Reilly going after the young, rapper viewing audience now? Is he that desperate? I hate to break it to O’Reilly, but the old folks at home, watching Fox don’t care about a rapper, let alone Obama.

  • edisciple

I wonder how many Obama apologist will comment here! Hmm! I think Bush was called similar things for his foreign (Obama 2.0 policy) policy.

  • slickerwick

Right off the bat, notice the author’s disdainful tone when writing about Fox.

Not to mention his typo in the second sentence. Proofreaders are desperately needed at Mediaite since the writers don’t bother reading over their own text before posting it. I’ve never seen so many typos, bad grammar, and misspelled words at a website that employs supposedly professional writers/reporters. Almost every Mediatite article has goofs galore.

I wonder if O’Reilly will talk about how Louie F now claims Obama is a murderer. Interesting turn of events here, doncha think? All these folks, and the liberal media too, used to claim Bush was the murderer and war criminal, and now that Obama is carrying out Bush’s foreign policy he will be considered a war criminal also (at least by those who are consistent; the media of course, will cover for Obama, like they always do).

Iwonder if O’Reilly will talkabout the apology NBC had to issue regarding the pledge. I’m honestly surprised I didn’t see a story about that here. It’s an interesting story that NBC would edit the pledge and remove the phrase “under God” from airing. I wonder why mediaite didn’t find that newsworthy? Or did they, and I just missed it?

  • slickerwick

    Notice this weird sentence.
“For some reason, this is especially true if the musicians are rappers are the anchors are on Fox News.”

Probably what he was struggling to state was:
It’s often amusing to watch huffy Fox News hosts duke it out with musicians who are rappers. (Also, if thus written, his first sentence could be cut altogether.)

Gawd, Mediaite, hire some copy editors or proofreaders.

Uhmm, I don’t think so. I think he just wants to show how ridiculous rappers are when it comes to political beliefs. Of course, just about every musician is a fool when it comes to politics. Take, for example, Springsteen.

Don’t let your hatred of FOX News / Conservatives get in the way of your brain’s ability to think….

  • Jackie_Treehorn

Maybe should listen to one of his albums before jumping to conclusions Jon. Lupe is the furthest thing from being a “gangsta” rapper….

Totally agree. Every post on Mediaite always has at least one grammatical error and I’m not exaggerating. Its’ Okay if Eye misspell werds but thats becuz I’m a commenter, not an author.

Come on, Mediaite! Hire some proofreaders! And Jon Bershad is always snarky when talking about Fox News, I could read an article and know it’s him w/ out looking at who wrote it….

  • BFD

Thank God that idiot poster who wrote those god awful rap songs isn’t here anymore?
I’m afraid we might have gotten one in this thread.

    What was his name?
    Lantern something?

  • felixw

O’Reilly defends Obama. Much like Olbermann or Maddow occasionally defended Bush.

Whoops, scratch that….Olbermann and Maddow never defended Bush. They attacked every word he ever said, including “and,” “or” and “which.”

And that’s the difference between a political commentator and a propagandist. The propagandist never deviates from the party line, even when evidence overwhelmingly tells another story. For an example, see Rachel Maddow’s handling of the Anthony Weiner scandal.

So Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and Ingraham and Fox & Friends are propagandists?

    Thanks for the clarification.

I’ve noticed that. At least people like Greenwald who writes for Salon is a principled lefty. He criticizes Obama and says that in some instances (unconstitutional wars, suveillance, warring on whistleblowers, trampling of civil liberties) he’s worse than Bush. The other writers at Salon are like the msnbc hosts–purely partisan pro-Dem Party hacks. At this point I don’t understand how any principled prog can be pro-Obama. And notice the decline of the anti-war protests. So many of the so-called ‘left’ were merely anti-Bush or anti-conserv or anti-Repub. They weren’t really progressive, (if that word still has any meaning.)

What do his albums have to do with his calling Obama a terrorist? Way to miss the point by several furlongs.

  • Azarkhan

A YouTube video of Minister Louis Farrakhan taking President Obama to task over the war in Afghanistan and the bombing of Libya is making its way around the Web. In the video, Farrakhan admonishes the president for turning into someone else. Farrakhan says, “We voted for our brother Barack, a beautiful human being with a sweet heart, and now he’s an assassin. They turned him into them.”

Right off the bat, notice you commented on a video that has no “liberal” context, and still turned it into a partisan issue? By the way I thought grammar police were only on youtube…

    Lupe already won.

Lupe says in his songs that the USA is a terrorist country.

    He lost.

Grammar police? I’m pointing out sloppy writing by a paid writer who can’t even bother to read over his own text before posting it. He’s not just some commenter on a messageboard. He is the author of the piece.

As for the ‘liberal context’, I’m not the one who injected the partisan tone. The author did. His words: “…especially true….on Fox News.” He doesn’t say why it’s funny “especially on Fox News.” What do you suppose he meant?

    Actually Obama IS a racist….from his own mouth;

It is NUTS for a people to vote for a man who is racist in his writings.

Well, that’s your judgement. A more enlightened analysis might come to the opposite conclusion.

Don’t balme a country for the actions of a leader.
Just because Obama and most “liberals are supporting a rebel group in Libya that has ties to Al Qaeda dosen’t mean America supports Al Aaeda.
Only Obama and the pro-Libyan war left support Al Qaeda.

Any time I get large caps out you latin I get a thrill. Don’t get you hopes up because incumbents rarely lose. Heck, even Clinton won re-election. Bush 41 lost only because of Perot. Carter because of the Iran Hostage Crisis, and the Raygun express. In his second term, Obama will bring peace to the middle east.

What’s wrong? you can’t justify the fact you support a rebel group that has strong ties to Al Qaeda?
It’s easy. Just say ” I, America Sucks, support terrorist’s and terrorist organizations”.
Go ahead, say it, you’ll feel better.
The best way to go throught life is to be honest with who you really are, America Sucks.

Which is interesting how people on the left make it like O’Rielly is a partisan devil working for the GOP whom in many cases he disagrees with(though its most likely repeated talking points with no reference at all, from pundits like the ones you mentioned).

The moronic, irrational ramblings of a fool?

haven’t watched the clip, but even if o’reilly is spot on in this one, bershad’s snarkiness is merited by the fact that o’reilly has been embarrassingly clueless when it comes to rap and hip-hop culture…
