Jimmy Fallon Gives Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer An R&B Twist, Introduces ‘Akon Cornelius’

On Tuesday’s Late Night, host Jimmy Fallon decided to open up the suggestion box and spread some holiday cheer by tweaking a couple Rankin and Bass animated holiday classics.

His first task? Making Frosty the Snowman say something other than “Happy Birthday” when the top hat lands on his head and he springs to life.

Fallon then pulled a suggestion out of a box from a viewer who loved both the Yukon Cornelius character from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, as well as recording artist Akon. Fallon’s solution? Combine the two. The curtains pulled back on the stage, and Fallon introduced the world to Akon Cornelius, a wrapping-paper obsessed hip-hop/R&B artist, who performed his song, “Wrap That.” Some lyrics:

“Just bought ten rolls of scotch tape/’Cause that’s how I do
Got my scissors, and some gift wrap/Just…just watch me as I…
Wrap that/So the kids don’t know
Wrap that/Putting on the bow
Wrap that/And make it snow
Wrap that/Ho ho ho ho ho”

    Nice twist to the character.

However, It’s “wrap that and make it snow” and not “wrap that/let it snow”.
    lol…
