Newt Gingrich: I Have A ‘Very Open Relationship’ With Billionaire Who Funds Super PAC
Last week, Las Vegas casino tycoon Sheldon Adelson pledged another 10 million dollars to Newt Gingrich‘s presidential campaign. The candidates are now becoming more defined by who is giving them money and how much they are associating with said individuals. On Fox News Sunday today, Gingrich appeared to explain the personal relationship he has with Adelson and why the billionaire mogul is giving so much money to the pro-Gingrich Super PAC.

Chris Wallace pointed out that combined with the money he has already given to the Super PAC, Adelson will have contributed over 20 million dollars in support of Gingrich’s candidacy. Wallace asked if he was helping Gingrich stay “afloat,” Gingrich responded by saying he’s done a lot to push back against the billionaires backing Mitt Romney. But why exactly is Adelson giving so much money to this particular candidate?
“Sheldon Adelson is desperately worried about an Iranian nuclear weapon, and he is desperately worried about the survival of Israel. So I am the strongest candidate on foreign policy, the strongest candidate on national security, it’s a very open relationship.”
