Rahm Emanuel Is Back On The Ballot In Chicago (For Now)

After yesterday’s little hiccup, it seems that former White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel‘s back on the path towards becoming Chicago’s angriest mayor – at least for the time being. Earlier, an Illinois appellate court determined that Emanuel was not eligible to run for mayor of Chicago because he was did not meet residency requirements. The screams you heard were Emanuel’s interns ducking wayward couch cushions, shoes, and molotov cocktails.

Today, however, the Supreme Court of Illinois ordered the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners to place Emanuel back on the ballot, although it has not yet decided whether it will hear his appeal of Monday’s Appellate Court ruling.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Emanuel’s attorneys are hard at work trying to convince the state’s Supreme Court that their client – who has already garnered much support from his ALLEGED home city – is indeed eligible to run.

There is absolutely no way he won’t be on the ballot and win. Chicago has a long tradition and silly little rules will not stand in the way.

The Illinois Supreme Court granted a stay of the lower court’s decision pending Emanuel’s appeal. Nothing surprising or unexpected about that from a legal standpoint. But it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Why exactly does a guy like have that immediately 40% of people in Chicago want him for Mayor? It;s not like he sitting there all day thinking about Chicago. How can he when he spends so much time thinking up new profanity? I mean outside of Lincoln this city has sure spewed alot of shit. That was Rham talking, not me.
