Mitt Romney: ‘Obama’s Vision Of A Free Economy Is Take Your Money And Send It To His Friends’

video

Mitt Romney celebrated his Florida win with his supporters in Tampa Tuesday night, “This campaign is about more than replacing a president, it’s about saving the soul of America,” Romney said. “President Obama and I have very different visions of America. President Obama wants to grow government and continue to amass trillion dollar deficits. I will not just slow the growth of government, I will cut the spending of government. I will not just freeze government share of the total economy, I will reduce it and without raising taxes,I will finally get america to a balanced budget. President Obama’s view of a free economy is to send your money to his friends!”

“My vision for a free enterprise economy is to return entrepreneurship and genius and creativity to the American people!” Romney exclaimed. “I want you to remember when our White House reflected the best of who we are, not the worst of what Europe has become — that America is still out there. We believe in that America. We still believe in the America that is the land of opportunity and a beacon of freedom. We believe in the America that challenges each of us to be bigger and better than ourselves. This election, let’s fight for the America we love. We believe in America. Thank you so much! Florida, you’re the best!”

Funny how Romney, someone who has SWISS bank accounts, is lecturing us about how to avoid becoming like Europe

  • Anonymous

Mitt’s speech reminded me of Bill Maher’s skillful dismemberment of the GOP rhetoric the other night in which he exposes how Romney and Gingrich have invented a boogie man Obama that simply doesn’t exist: a guy who hates religion, wants to take your guns, will dismantle the military, bows to our enemies, fears free enterprise, wants to impose European socialism and on and on and on. It’s a complete fiction, but it’s the only way the Republican nominee has a chance to win — if he runs against an invented character.

Mitt Romney’s vision of a free economy, is to take your money and send it to the Cayman Islands or  to Switzerland.  He does not give it to his friends; he keeps it.

“Obama’s Vision Of A Free Economy Is Take Your Money And Send It To His Friends”

–The only problem with Mitt’s claim is that taxes actually went down under Obama.

”I will not just slow the growth of government, I will cut the spending of government”
–But pay no attention to the Republican candidate behind the curtain, who didn’t utter a peep while George W. Boosh turned surpluses into endless debt.

“This election, let’s fight for the America we love. We believe in America”
–and Willard will do that by sending his money overseas to a Swiss account.

under Obama, many have prospered.  U.S. government employees — all 2 million of them, with an average salary of $74, 403 — are doing great.  Public-sector union members are also doing fine.  Crony capitalists, who fund the Obama machine, are doing spectacularly — there’s always an extra stimulus dollar for a backer of Barack.Read more: http://www.americanthinker.com/2012/01/obamas_dismal_job_performance.html#ixzz1l5onEdiM

Romney’s vision of a free economy is he’ll take your job, then foreclose on you so his friends profit off of what used to be your job and your house.

  • Anonymous

Again. Can we all just skip forward to when you are all saying that the one guy you crazy people don’t like who beat the other guy you don’t like will be the saviour of America by beating the guy you really don’t like? It’ll be more fun then.

Go Mitt Go! Romney 2012 yeah baby.

  • Anonymous

Romney paid full taxes on his overseas bank account.   By the way, his money is in a blind trust, so Romney didn’t even open this account.  He has no control over the allocation of his assets.

Meanwhile Obama invests his own money….in government debt.  He has never owned a single share in an American business, and gets his investment returns from taxpayer’s financing his enormous deficits.  I would worry about this a lot more than a legal bank account in Zurich.

So try again. Maybe you will come up with something better next time.

Everything this man says is a lie. The president Romney is describing does not exist. Obama is demonizing and denigrating every sector of the economy? That is a pure lie. As is the repeated lie that Obama is an appeaser. Has Romney understood what has happened to the Iranian economy these past few months? Does he think Osama bin Laden thinks he was appeased?
Let me just say right now: this speech is the most dishonest, manipulative, disgusting series of lies I’ve heard in a very long time. And its core premise: that the president hates this country, whereas Romney believes in it. As I said: disgusting. I’m with Newt on this. The man will say anything to gain power.

Obama will take your money and give it to his friends. Wow.  What in-depth political analysis from a potential Presidential candidate.  It sounds like something you’d hear from a guy running for Class President in High School.

  • Anonymous

What an idiot! How do you balance the budget by pretty much continuing Bush’s tax policies, expanding military spending ie. wars (Iran, maybe Iraq again et al)? It is mathematically impossible. What are you going to cut, Mitt?

  • bob ross

Only people that have an appreciation for Swiss bank accounts are paying under 15% tax on investments…That’s the 1%. It’s been a free ride but that ride needs to come to an end. This is no longer the gilded age, being rich no longer gives you special privilege. Time to pay that fair share.

Go Mitt Go!  And don’t forget to check clearance heights.  Remember, the dog is strapped to the roof ☺

I’m not a Mitt guy but it was a pretty good speech.
He laid a few good zingers on Obama.

  • Anonymous

Mittens has already taken our money while at Bain, didn’t pay any taxes thanks to aggressive lobbying, and now he is afraid he might have to pay some taxes if Obama is re-elected.

    Global Debt Crisis

The greatest private fraud of human history.

Who are the great fraudsters who are becoming the murderers of the human kind?

How does the economy “illness” threaten Democracy and the freedom of people?

You’re right.  Obama hasn’t demonized or denigrated “green energy” jobs, although he is certain to as soon as he believes it politically useful to do so.  Also, he hasn’t demonized or denigrated public sector labor unions because, after all, his career wouldn’t exist without them.

Mitt Romney proposes to balance the budget without raising taxes while growing the military.

A lot of big talk. Let’s see the numbers, Mr. Romney.

The problem is that political rhetoric is getting so detached from reality, and the media is too cowardly to challenge it for fear of being labelled “biased.”  As a result, this garbage goes unrebutted and eventually becomes “common wisdom.”

  • Anonymous

Romney gave away 15% of his income to charity.  Obama gave 1%.  Biden gave $369.  So your argument on who keeps his money and who gives it away falls flat on its face.

  • Anonymous

    …lmao yeah sure.

  • labman57

Mitt’s idea of a free economy is to buy up small corporations, lay off half of the workers, sell the company for a hefty profit, and then hide the income in offshore accounts to avoid paying taxes on the earnings.

  • BooBoo Bear

Romney did NOT give away any of his money. He gave some of his stock options to the Mormon Church they immediately sold it. But he did get to write it off his taxes.

Don’t you pay attention in class? They even explained it here several weeks ago.

A blind trust, eh? Looks like we have another Mitt vs. Mitt flip-flop moment:—
”A blind trust is an age-old ruse, if you will. Which is to say, you can always tell the blind trust what it can and cannot do. You give a blind trust rules.”

    – Mitt Romney, in one of his many past positions

The Bain stuff is really potatoes. I don’t think he really understands that he is pandering to the TP with lofty (unachievable) goals. Platitudes. These are the same people who accused Obama of doing the same. This is what I never get about these people. Sometimes, I really think they are envious they do not have their own Obama.

With all due respect I just don’t see giving to a church as charity. It can be used that way. But it could be used to build temples, or send out missionaries, or many other things. The mormon church as with other large churches don’t have to account to where there donations go. There books are kept secret. I know they have a bunker out here in new mexico. Im sure a lot of the money went to build it. Other charities, Red Cross, doctors without borders ect, seem much more useful and they have to keep things semi above board. And im not just picking on the mormon church all churches are this way.

The politicians certainly think the people are stupid. There is no homogeneous place called ‘Europe’. Norway and Greece are as different from each other as you can imagine. Iceland is no Germany; France no Portugal; the UK no Finland; Sweden no Italy; Switzrland no Denmark; Ireland no Belgium; Netherlands no Slovenia, etc. If there were any media worth its name, the people would know this ‘like-europe’ attack is based on silliness and lies.

Oh, Switzerland is Europe, just in case Romoney thinks it is in the East Caost or something.

  • Anonymous

It was nice to see Mitt have some fire in his belly and go after Obama the way he did; we need more of this.  Mitt is not only fighting the $B campaign of Obama but he has a liberal Obama suck-up media to contend with.  The MSM will do all it can to destroy Mitt and promote the one, so Mitt’s journey will be harder than ever.

  • expatpatriot

Romney’s problem is that he doesn’t really believe in anything except that Mitt Romney deserves to be president.

Consequently, when he reaches into his heart in search of something to stir his supporters, he finds … nothing. So he turns to his staff, who package up a collection of mostly platitudinous, frequently phony, and always, always hollow strings of words, which Mitt attempts to deliver with simulated conviction.

He’s just not very good at it.

And the fact that his content is peppered with easily shot-down lies makes him vulnerable to anyone who will fling those lies at his feet. Like Barack Obama. Like Obama’s surrogates. Like Obama’s BFF of the moment, Newt Gingrich.

Romney is neither qualified to be president nor qualified to run for president. That’s been obvious for a couple of election cycles and it’s clearly an intractable problem for him.

And he’s the most electable guy the Republicans have got.

The best outcome for America, I think, is for Romney to get the nomination (although Gingrich would do, and would be more entertaining, in a grand guignol sort of way), to stumble through an inept and doomed campaign, dragging down Republican Representatives, Senators, and Governors wherever he goes.

That go a long way toward ridding the country of the obstructionism of the Tea Party and its toadies, stiffen some wobbly Democratic backbones, and allow governance to begin again in Washington.

It Mitt the man to bring the Republican Party to its knees? Maybe. We’ll see.

  • expatpatriot

That’s what you call fire in the belly?

    Heartburn, maybe.

“Don’t confuse me with the facts.”

The sad and dangerous thing is that there are a lot of fools lke GTD out there, who are impervious to the truth, who deny science as vehmently as they deny nuance, and have drunk the wingnut Kool-Aid that says the government can’t do anything right.

They are unreachable. They are also not very appealing, fun to be around, inspiring, convincing, or respected.

We need to address those who can hear and marginalize the deaf-and-dumb trogs who can’t. If Obama, the DCCC and the DSCC do their jobs well, come November we’ll be able to sweep a lot of this toxic garbage into the dustbin of history where it belongs.

And when he was running against Ted Kennedy he made the statement that blind trusts are a ruse to hide money, that’s because Kennedy had one, it’s only Ok when its Mitt’s money hiding accounts.

That’s if you call the Mormon church a charity, they spent a lot of his money to defeat same sex marriage in California, that’s the kind of thing Mitt contributes to.

Well Gloves as Romney himself says “Some investments work and some don’t”. I’m sure if he’s elected he won’t do anything for himself or his supporters. Thinking the nomination will be awhile in coming as he’s gonna have some tough sledding in the south where they think he’s in a cult.

the missionaries are simply recruiters for the church and where is their main area to do this, FRANCE.  They don’t want to go anywhere difficult.  The Temple Mitt pushed on the Boston area ruined a very nice vista and is hideous.  Mormon temples have to be bigger than any other churches and tower over everything else.

Now I am totally confused. Obama gives tax payers money to his friends?

Statistically, Obama and Biden gave more.

While Mitt Romney’s vision of a free economy is for already wealthy people to be able to buy the company you work for, saddling it with debt in the process, close the factories and send jobs overseas while milking the company dry, all done at no risk to himself. But hey, at least none of that money goes to poor people, his style of capitalism just helps make more of them. :)

Also under president Romney, you can be sure there’ll be no special consideration for his friends, I mean, you can be sure he’ll fight tooth and nail to end subsidies to companies that don’t need them and the loopholes that let him pay a 15% tax rate. It’s not like Bain was ever part of efforts to lobby Washington to preserve them or anything.

    Oh wait…

What an utterly ignorant thing to vomit forth.  From this white-trash.

  • Mari Johnson

It is difficult to try to fault Romney because he sensibly put his funds in blind trust, maybe thinking ahead to the time he ran for office.  We are well aware of his huge fortune, much inherited and much on interest from his inherited fortune and a lot from his Baine years.  But earning the money is not the problem  I detest his entire statement about not worrying about the poor which was quoted correctly but then he goes on to say essentially that the poor have food stamps so gee whiz, no worry needed.  I wonder if this rich guy ever knew onyone who tried to raise a family on food stamp and public assistance income???

  • Anonymous

Wow, what a hard hitting criticism of Romney.  He may actually have given some instructions to his trustee.   This will really make a huge difference in the election, huh?

If anyone has any doubts that the Left is unprepared to counter Romney one need merely look at the trivial stuff they come up with. Their guy Kennedy (about whom Romney made this comment) drives a lady off a bridge, causes her death, leaves the scene of the crime, and pays off the family to avoid an autopsy. The Left is cool with all that.  But Romney may have given instructions to his trustee on investment strategy, and they think that this is a big thing?   What a laugh!

  • Anonymous

Romney gave more than a million dollars to charities OTHER than the Mormon Church.  So even when Mormon-hating bigots like you deduct this amount, Romney still showed far more commitment to giving his money away than either Obama or Biden.   Those are the facts.

  • Anonymous

You obviously don’t understand stock options.  You think they were worthless to Mitt?  You need to do a little bit of background research before posting comments.

  • expatpatriot

And if there were a Marxist running, he’d probably suffer from a serious disadvantage.

But since the contest will be between a moderate Democrat and a guy who got rich shoving broken bottles up the ass of the middle class, I feel pretty good about Obama’s chances.

  • :)

It may be difficult to Fault Romney, Mari, for placing his funds in a blind trust, but couldn’t you at least try?

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

In 2009 the top 1% of earners paid over 36% of ALL the income taxes. The 15% tax on investments benefits ALL investors and when people like you advocate doing away with it you advocate raising taxes on EVERYONES investment income. Your jealousy based class envy is foolish and flawed.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

Oh no not swiss bank accounts. Anything but that. WTF cares?

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

Everytime somebody starts rambling about the “1%” you can be pretty certain that they are just obsessed with jealousy and class envy and have little of substance to offer.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

So what? Oh no Romney’s rich and has money in a trust that is competently administered. The sky is falling. Do you have any idea how stupid  you people sound?

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

You aren’t suppose to raise a family on food stamps and public assistance income. You aren’t supposed to have children you can’t support and you aren’t suppose to mooch off the public to raise them. How about they support themselves and their own kids instead of mooching off of everyone else that does? If you want to support the professional welfare class you do it out of your pocket. If it were up to me all there benefits would end tomorrow.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

LMAO I really don’t like Romney that much but if this is the best his critics can come up with, that he’s rich, has a swiss bank account and a blind trust, he has the nomination sewn up and Obama is pretty well finished.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

All the GOP nominee has to do to win is run against Obamas economic and fiscal record.  His record deficits alone are more than enough for any RATIONAL person who doesn’t want to hit 20 Trillion in debt by 2016 to conclude he has no business in the whitehouse.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

“He gave some of his stock options to the Mormon Church they immediately sold it.” for money.

Do you always focus on insignificant details at the expense of everything else?

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

No it’s to take your money and do with it as you please, since it is yours afterall. I realize to the average socialist who thinks the government knows best how to spend our money the idea that people should actually keep what they earn and use it as they see fit is absolutely horrific.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

“With all due respect I just don’t see giving to a church as charity.”

They are a tax exempt charitable organization, which pretty well trumps your opinion of what is and isn’t a charity.

  • http://profiles.google.com/steve001968 Steve Stevens

LOL I really have to say I’m not a big Romney fan, but, looking at these silly comments, if the only criticisms his critics can level is that in no particular order he:
    1. Is rich
    2. Has a Swiss bank account.
    3. Has a blind trust.
    4. Gave money to the Mormon church.

He has the nomination sewn up and Obama is a one term president.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/SP2KXB7W4AN3SFGADCW3QJFOCI Jantwinix

It’s not about jealousy. This whole “class warfare” conversation is a political ploy to divide the people. We start fighting each other instead of picking a suitable candidate. The majority of people don’t care how much a candidate makes. We just want to know that he’s in touch with people of ALL incomes. Mitt doesn’t give off that feeling for me.
