Sen. McCain Throws Some Shade At Obama: Not Only Is Your Bus Ugly, It’s Ugly And Canadian

video

I very much miss John McCain. It seems to have been forever since he was last embroiled in a story arch within this complicated soap opera we call the news, and I miss writing about him!

Luckily, he decided to change that today when, while on the Senate floor, he called Barack Obama‘s campaign bus “ugly.” Oh, and also? He kind of insulted Canada… or, at least, the Canadian bus industry.

Daaamn, McCain:

I must say again I have never seen an uglier bus than a Canadian one. He is traveling around on a Canadian bus touting American jobs.

The bus in question is indeed made by a Canadian company called Prevost. But, as CNN reports, the company used to “outfit” the bus actually happens to be American, and has designed buses for various musical acts and presidential candidates over the years. Candidates like… John McCain!

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer spoke with Wolf Blitzer today about McCain’s comments and the ensuing scandal they have caused. (BusGate? OccupyThatUglyBus?):

I think that’s a lot of politics from Senator McCain. As we’ve talked about this before, the Secret Service acquired the bus from an American company. It is made by the same company that made Mr. McCain’s very famous “Straight Talk Express.”

McCain? Please…how much longer will it be before some other news anchor is waking McCain up for his interview?
Mccain’s been a left-wing doormat for the past 20 years.

Let’s just hope the interview’s not at the dog track by then.

  • Cain

    1. McCain’s bus in 2008 was also Canadian.
    2. The Secrete Service worked with an American company that got the parts from Canada.
    3. The GOP nominee for 2012 will have his own twin version of the President’s bus.
    So yeah. Fail McCain!

  • Anonymous

I just hope the POTUS gets his bus off of McCain’s lawn!  His fist must be tired, with all the shaking and whatnot.

  • MikeInOKC

Wow…what an incoherent, rambling blatherskite from the 2008 loser.

  • lazzzlo

    I miss the M.C. Cain/Palin rap!

How dare McCain bring politics into discussing Obama’s taxpayer – paid  campaign trip on his Canadian/American Campaign bus !

And an ugly campaign it is .

  • Ralph-NY

Why are the American taxpayers footing the bill for this campaign tour?

  • Anonymous

What a laugh.  Obama has driven the economy into the ground, and failed in both domestic and foreign policy.  Mediaite doesn’t want to cover those issues, so we pretend that the big gripe from the Republicans is the President’s bus.

You might as well return to the bogus birth certificate story.  Since you won’t say the plain truth here — namely that Obama’s mismanagement of the economy and blundering foreign policy are what his critics object to.  The fact that you don’t acknowledge those self-evident facts won’t make them go away.

  • Anonymous

“Obama has driven the economy into the ground”

He sure did!  Ever since Obama took the reins of the US of A in January 2008, the economy has been going downhill!  And all thanks to the Community Reinvestment Act – Obama’s most damaging piece of legislation to date!  The fact that the MSM won’t acknowledge these self-evidence facts won’t make them go away!

When’s the  POTUS going to stop campaigning and get to work on solutions for our economy?  This guy just won’t focus on his job..  Do you really want 4 more years of this?

  • Anonymous

Its nice to see the President out there working trying to get a Jobs Bill passed.  The Senate is also trying to get something passed at least in piece mill fashion.  Not so much for Boehner and the House.  Didn’t Boehner and his cabal run on thet Jobs issue last year.  Seems odd now they are against creating jobs.  Get on board the Jobs Bus Boehner!!!

  • Anonymous

Your comment is revisionist history. If you think the economy started down hill in 2008 you are just ignorant of any facts.

  • Lallen422

The campaign bus that McCain used in 2008 was made by the same company LOL. And whoever the Republican candidate is will be using the second bus that Secret Servicer ordered from that company

  • Lallen422

Hmm, Jobs Bill? Where have you been? Senate didn’t pass it, so it is being broken up in pieces

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NWVKX2P2QBPQ6FHQHCHVIC2ALQ Fedup in Florida

Really???   That is all he has done this year and it’s a piece of crap,  basically extensions of previous tax breaks, more funding for municipal unions and really offers nothing to begin healing this economy, he is clueless this president, he has nothing to offer this country other than further damage to the economy…..

  • Anonymous

I liked McCain, but when he picked Palin he lost all credibilty to comment on politics again.

Clueless? Nothing to offer? Damaging the economy? I thought you were referring to Governor Lex Luther Health Care Fraud Scott! Especially since rejecting jobs creating infrastructure projects and drug testing poor people doesn’t seem to be solving Florida’s problems.

Maybe you two can find a couple teachers or firefighters to kneecap, then go get a room.

What does Obama being clueless have to do with Rick Scott?  Your problem is that you can point to nothing that the president has done that has had a positive effect on this economy, and you can feel the gloom seeping in to the lives of every American…  and all the community organizer can do is go out and campaign…  again setting us against each other…  His speech today…..  Republicans want dirty water, dirty air….  no healthcare…  all bullshit, no republican wants those things but this is all your POS president can say to try and save his job because he has done nothing with the exception of funneling money to his union supporters…  So yeah tell me about Rick Scott, I am not really a supporter of his but I will say that his decision to not build the high speed rail was the right decision for Florida, his decision on drug testing was a mess that helped no one…  but what does this have to do with our clueless president other than that is the only way you can defend your union shill, community organizer.

  • Norbit

A handout to the teachers unions, and a slush fund called Infrastructure Bank.

We’re a lot smarter here than your average Democratic supporter!

  • SouthernYankee

What’s the matter?   Obama is doing his job.   I am happy he finally is out there doing what he should be doing.  Just like Bush did.  Just like every president before him  have done.  Stop your whining.  You sound like cry babies.  My goodness.  By the way on the last tour the Quitter Grifter from AK did was on the same kind of bus.  So if its good for the republican losers its good enough for Obama.  At least be honest will ya.  What whiners you republicans are.  Especially McCain the Whiner in Chief.  What a sore loser.

  • Demongo

Ummm…you do realize that Obama didn’t “take the reins” until 2009…?

Bush was hoping to have gotten out of Dodge before things exploded, but he didn’t quite make it.

Obama has been trying to clean up the mess since he started, but the republic party has opposed literally every program and initiative that he has proposed.  Even when those initiatives are old republic party plans and ideas that had gop support in the past, because it’s a democrat (or maybe just a black guy), those exact same ideas are unacceptable.

You need to turn off fox news and rush and actually read the legislation being proposed, and the ridiculous counter arguments offered by the right as justification for sitting on their hands.  The truth will set you free, and fox, rush, glenn, laura, ann, etc. are not telling you the truth.

  • joe

it is like when the gop compared Obamas bus to Aerosmiths(actually it is the secret service bus)..
AND THEY ACTUALLY DID USES AEROSMITHS BUS….

i am telling you—everything things clowns say and do–is a direct reflection/self admitting projection of their own actions…
you cannot make this stuff up..

if the gop hates it—the gop is doing it–a lot..
    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/rachel-maddow-tackles-the-gops-brazenly-stupid-hypocrisy-in-attacking-obama-vacation/

  • Demongo

Obama is protected by the Secret Service (which actually bought and outfitted the buses), which as part of the federal government is funded by taxpayers.

Same thing happened in 2004; did that upset you too?

  • Demongo

“When is that black guy gonna get off my lawn?????”

  • Demongo

Obama is protected by the Secret Service (which actually bought and

  • joe

“Taxpayer-financed travel was one of the
    Bushies’ favorite
moves. In one especially relevant example, at this point in 2003, the Bush
White House sent three cabinet secretaries on a six-city bus
tour — they even used the same luxury bus that Aerosmith used — to promote
the administration’s tax cuts. Taxpayers paid for all of this.”
gop mantra–don’t do as they do—don’t do what they want-don’t do what they say—
and for god’s sake—don’t try to give them what they want—
    what a bunch of clowns…

  • Demongo

    “Blundering foreign policy”?

You don’t deal with facts much I gather.

What specific foreign policy objections do you have?

    –Killing bin laden?
    –Killing al awlaki?
–Stepping up drone strikes in pakistan?
–Supporting arab uprisings in libya to oust qaddafi?
    –Something else?

Maybe he should have flown a jet onto an aircraft carrier after killing bin laden; would that have made you happier?

As far as mismanagement of the economy:  he’s been hamstrung at every turn, with literally every program and intiative he has proposed, by unified republic party opposition.  Merit of legislation has had no bearing on their opposition; it has all been based on the notion that they want Obama to fail.

So if there’s any blame to be had for mismanaging the economy, it belongs squarely with the gop.

Ah, the obligatory attempted save – this time in Frenglish: Il shoot le puck, le guardian de but il make le save, mais zut alors, le guardian de but boots le puck into son own net.

The story, bub, is about McCain being a lying hypocrite. So you figure, oopsie doopsie, can’t do anything to combat that – so why not CHANGE THE SUBJECT.

Why won’t the Republicans allow a free vote on the Jobs Act? Because that’s what Obama is taking to the road to report to the American people. And guessez what, mon ami … they’re listening.

    Occupy the Senate.

  • Rex the Wonder God

Did you get in all the talking points?

Okay then, bub: what are the Republicans in Congress doing about the economy, about jobs.

    Jack Squat.

‘Statchu Norbit? Howsa lawn, you grumpy old party poop.

  • Rex the Wonder God

    It started in January 1980.

  • Rex the Wonder God

This is of course a by-product of NAFTA. McCain KNEW the Roadways One was Made in Canuckistan, because his OWN Stray Talk Express was made in the same place. ALL such buses are made in Quebec sort-of-Canuckistan. There are NO manufacturers capable of making such vehicles in America any more, not since for more than a decade.

  • Lizton

Sad what dementia does to an old person’s mind.

  • Demon Killer

Yea, and what is Obama and the Democraps doing for jobs in the USA?  Making the unemployment figures go up and up – every week!  Pay attention, Demongo and get the crap removed from your thoughts!

Sorry Demongo, my comments were really aimed at Rex the Wonderful Idiot!  He only thinks he knows how to talk!  Here Rex, here Rex – go fetch this bone I’m throwing for you into the Atlantic Ocean!

Boehner’s job bus appears to have a practicle invisibility screen.  It must employ a half dozen or so to keep him spray painted that color?

  • Louisgander

Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk.   I have but 3 words to say to Obama:  ”Results, not excuses”.

Do you think he really needs to sit at the White House to do his job?

Obama is once again on campaign mode…using a taxpayer paid for bus to go around spreading a message that the Democratic Senate already killed.

    When does Obama work?

  • TruDat

Typical Obama; rail against Wall St. while begging them for campaign donations; whine about jobs going overseas while having his bus done in another country and puttine GE CEO Emelt on his Jobs Council, while GE sends thousands of jobs to China.

    The guy’s a genius, I tell ya’.

  • SammyC

    Dear America,
Thank you for not being that freakin’ crazy enough to put this old geezer and that batshitcrazy lady in the White House.

  • Scott Ward

Hi, friend. I love Fla.  Makes Ga look like c***  : )  I don’t believe Obadumma is tryin’ to solve anything for  our country, or what helps it, or our problems. Not on his agenda. If everything he’s done has failed, that’s tellin’ me he only wants power. Nor do I believe he will ever give up the WH seat, not w/o a fight, anyway. Think E.O.  (Executive Orders) he’s got them @ his disposal. One gives COMPLETE control to FEMA, in the event of a major crisis, invented or otherwise.  Just sayin’.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NWVKX2P2QBPQ6FHQHCHVIC2ALQ Fedup in Florida

Uhh  Yeah!  He is not going to get anything done on the campaign trail…  He should be back in DC working tirelessly as he promised to get things done and this country back to work…  Since he doesn’t really have a plan that will work he has reverted back to his comfort zone…  disparaging any who oppose him..  That is all this president has got, it is all that he has bought to the table.

He should be back in Washington pounding heads and coming up with a compromise plan instead of out trying to sell more state bailouts.  This president ineffective and the country is paying the price for his narcissism.  If I were running a big concern that were going down in flames I sure as hell would be in my office surrounding myself with those whose support I needed to save it and working out a plan to do just that.  This president is not concerned with the welfare of this country as much as he is concerned about 4 more years of the same failed policies.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NWVKX2P2QBPQ6FHQHCHVIC2ALQ Fedup in Florida

The republicans have asked for the vote more than once and Harry Reid shut it down, when it finally did come up for a vote it failed with Democrats joining the republicans who voted against it… Who gives a flip about McCain, he has little influence on major issues…  if the story is about McCain and not Obama riding around on his bus then it is just a deflection as McCain is totally unimportant to the major issues facing our country.

Go ahead and Occupy the Senate, I am in total agreement with you!  Both parties have failed this country, but no one more so than this president.

  • Bennie3143

We need to wait and see just what our president does with his jobs bill and other things that are going on.  He really has done a great job with getting those bad guys that the last president said he didn’t care where they were.  My how soon we forget.

sure, The stimulus I was a huge failure, so let’s try stimulus II and let’s see if the same thing will work THIS TIME.  How about we all learn from sylyndra.  Throwing money at problems  just wastes your money.

See any new train lines, new roads built, new bridge repairs done?  Me neither.  Instead, billions wasted on failed green businesses and wasteful spending.  Where’s that money in a few years to pay for a person paralyed who actually needs it or a bridge that will be unstable without repair.  No money, we’re broke.

Cut discretionary federal budget spending by 10% each year for three years, you’ll see that without a blank check, the agencies will spend money more wisely.

You should listen to MLK and judge people by their actions and character not the color of their skin.   Pres. Obama is as lousy a US President on the economy as Pres. Carter, and neither has to do with either’s skin color.

Yes. He was not elected to continuously campaign for reelection. He was not elected to take junkets all over the world, he was elected to be the President of the United States and take care of the people’s business. None of his activities thus far have accomplished anything for the economy or to resolve the nation’s huge unemployment issue.

  • Anonymous

See Rex the Wonder God’s posting if you want the correct information.  Just remember the Republican candidate will be using one too.  So be careful what you complain about.  Know the facts, man.

  • Hagen619dj

Not to mention…..”when does Obama work”…why is he traveling around in a taxpayer bus campaigning for himself.  Do you ever feel like a big rug that Obama just wipes his feet on? Oh, and now the hurry up and make the Obamacare bill has been scrapped because it’s too expensive.  What?  Really??  My goodness, Nancy and cronnies are going to go balistic. So in that case, what HAS he accomplished since being in office? And I hear he is taking back the idea that bringing a bunch of soldiers home wouldn’t be prudent either?  Promises, promises, blah, blah.  Yes, we MUST keep good relations with the Afgan’s because when we blow them up we replace things like schools, hospitals, mosques…Oh please. They are just laughing at us. Ever feel like Sucker is written all over our land.

  • Hagen619dj

I agree.  McCain should have ordered and paid for his own bus.  Since when do taxpayers need to be liable for campaining. that’s just nonsense.  Where is the damn thing now that he isn’t campaigning???

  • Hagen619dj

Oh, ya, good ‘ol bam-bam has gotten the bad guys all right.  He sends in the soldiers to kill and takes credit. He hasn’t done a thing. If he’s done so darn much, then get all the guys out of there. He has turned his nose up and defiled the Congress on several turns. The GOP is trying to keep him from spending, spending, spending. For some reason you demorats can’t see it…or just plain won’t.  The only reason he got pressy is because the young people wanted to be involved with electing a black president in their lifetime.  Oh boy, have they gotten their wish. To be so lucky. Now we got soldiers going to Uganda to supervise.  ya right…if you believe that. Our 2-3 wks in Syria was up a long time ago.  He goes over the Congress’ heads and decides these things himself. The simulas money was going to creat all these great jobs. Where is that money? In the banks that won’t loan it out. Then to special interests of HIS. Are you aware that he fanagled $17.million to Michele’s brother who is a lawyer.  I’ll bet not!! Do you realize that Soros owns the website Snopes?  Oh, ya, that way he can control what is truthful about Obama. Then you make a supreme court judge out of the lady that has gone to great lengths to hide his personal information.  One “favor” deserves another you know!!!!!  Wake up.

  • shawna.

So Mr. McCain says the bus is not only UGLY, but Canadian.  Hmm.  Question here for ya John.  Do you think the Canadians designed the bus with no strict criteria or do you think that they were given very strict specifications as to how the bus was to look, safety requirements etc?  So who is stupid? Gee.  Wonder why you didn’t win the election?
