SNL’s Ambiguously Gay Duo Go Live-Action With Fallon, Hamm, Carell, Colbert & Helms

It was a night of firsts on this week’s Saturday Night Live, as Lindsey Buckingham finally getting a word in edgewise on “What up With That?” was followed by Robert Smigel‘s “Ambiguously Gay Duo” going from 2D studs to star-studded live-action. Thanks to an out-of-control “flesh ray,” the cartoon duo turned into Jimmy Fallon and Jon Hamm, and their nemeses were played by a who’s who of comedy that included Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and host Ed Helms.

While the luminous cast was a treat, perhaps the best part about the sketch is how dated the premise seems now.

Here’s the clip, from NBC’s Saturday Night Live:

Too funny! Love Jon Hamm as a host. He’s always willing to make a complete fool of himself.

Colbert and Carrell have always been the voice of “Ace” and “Gary”, respectively. Colbert has also been “Dr. Brainio” over the years, while I believe Smigel has always been “Bighead”. So if there was a flipperoo, it would’ve been Carrell for Smigel and of course, the live -action substitution using friends of the show.

BTW: This season I’ve watched SNL almost exclusively on Hulu and I generally don’t watch the embedded clips, but the description of this one was too much to bear.

Hamm is actually hilarious. I’ve listened to several podcasts with him in them, and he was funnier than most the comedians he was with.

OMFG too funny! I don’t watch SNL on TV but I do love these clips. Maybe that’s where the show should transition, too cable or online.

Since Tommy Christopher believes open discussion regarding the fact that Mr. Don Lemon of CNN is homosexual is wrong I’ll go ahead and post here.

    http://www.mediaite.com/tv/cnns-don-lemon-comes-out-publicly-acknowledges-he-is-gay-via-twitternew-york-times/

Why is it a point not to be discussed?

Why is that article closed for discussions?

Is it because you mention something about African-American culture that is negative? What are you scared of Tommy?

Regardless, I think it would be a perfect place to discuss hypocrisy.
