This Might Be MSNBC’s Worst Graphics Fail Ever
It’s a sad thought, but when you hear the phrase “WTC jumpers,” your mind most likely goes to the horrible scene on 9/11 when people jumped out of the World Trade Center as disaster unfolded. And when MSNBC’s Ronan Farrow talked about this past week’s WTC base-jumpers today, the chyron that accompanied him was nothing short of cringeworthy:
Naturally, that MSNBC graphics department fail did not go unnoticed on Twitter.
@WillOremus @EyeonOhio @holmesdm he is, but that chyron writer needs to check themselves.

Wow. Evidence that Sept 11 scarred you: Where your mind goes when you see that @RonanFarrow image. WTC jumpers. #Phrasing!

This is not the first time MSNBC has flubbed its on-air graphics. Last year they aired footage of someone sleepwalking onto subway tracks with the chyron “Kimye Engaged.” And on at least two separate occasions, they’ve had seriously mislabeled map graphics, with someone throwing darts at a board to figure out where Scranton and Buffalo are, and during Ukraine coverage someone at MSNBC mistakenly thought Czechoslovakia was still a country.
