Conservative Legal Star John Yoo Suggests Supreme Court Losing Streak May Have Cost Pam Bondi Her Job

Conservative legal expert John Yoo told Fox News’ Sandra Smith that the Trump administration’s lack of success at the Supreme Court may have cost Pam Bondi her job as attorney general during a Thursday afternoon interview.

“All of this happening, interestingly enough, after yesterday we saw both of them, President Trump and Pam Bondi, at the Supreme Court to hear the oral arguments,” observed Smith, prompting Yoo.

“Excellent point, Sandra, about the timing because maybe that’s when Trump finally made up his mind. Because it looked-m he had to leave that oral argument thinking that he’s going to take a loss on what is one of his core central policy agendas in immigration. He just lost a tariff case at the Supreme Court a few weeks ago. And maybe after sitting in the courtroom, watching how his attorney general was in charge of representing these positions at the Supreme Court was doing, he said maybe we need a change, maybe I was persuaded to take these risky cases up to the Supreme Court, and now that I see that we’re on the lose-, we’ve lost tariffs, we might very well lose on birthright citizenship. Maybe I need to have different lawyers,” suggested Yoo. “Now look, being President Trump’s lawyer is not a long term job, right? It’s not about tenure. He switches lawyers like people switch shirts and clothes. So we shouldn’t think Pam Bondi’s somehow been singled out. Remember, at this time in his first term, right, he was about to get rid of Attorney General Sessions and replace him with Bill Barr. And that’s the interesting question next is what kind of person is he going to replace Pam Bondi with? Is he going to go for some inside Washington person of experience like a Bill Barr, or go outside Washington like he did with Pam Bondi in the first place?”
