Watch Betty White On SNL: The Highlight Reel

video

Betty White made her much-anticipated appearance on SNL last night, and by all accounts she stole the show, with a little help from the ladies. Whoever said there are no second acts in American lives, or that there are no Hollywood roles for women over 30 clearly never took Betty into account. In case you missed any of last night’s SNL appearance — the f**king digital short, White ‘bluffin with her muffin, the Facebook vitriol — we’ve collected all of them for you here. Best episode of the season all because Betty White Rocks!Consumate Pro,you could just see that all night.100% on top of her game, she may be 88 (and a half) but she can act the rest of those chicks under the table.Plus the other thing you could see was she’s a really sweet totally genuine person,no Hollywood fakeness there.

Betty White should be the role model for young female Hollywood.

Ms. White’s overwhelming adorableness made the most of what was, like everything else this season, a painfully mediocre show. You couldn’t help but smile every time she was onstage, but I’m a little disappointed that they went the whole, “let’s make her say something dirty” route with every sketch. That schtick is getting kind of old (no pun intended), and they should have allowed Betty to do some things where a dirty word/sexual innuendo/bitchy comment wasn’t the punchline. All in all though, SNL was raised from its usual C- territory to a solid B+ simply by the charm of the amazing Ms. White.

    Oh, and also – !!!!!!!!!!!11

Is there no spam filter here?

And wow Karl you’ve managed to soil at least two threads here. You need medication.

Soil the thread? I think Karl is spot-on here. It was their best show of the year by sheer virtue of Betty’s presence, but so much potential went untapped.

Not to deny the comedy potential of Betty White saying outrageous things, but true epic comedy was easily within their reach — instead, they chose to shoehorn her into yet another awful “outrageous-fake-TV-talk-show” skit (the Dominican one), and shoehorned her into another Lawrence Welk/”Denise” skit, and shoehorned her into MacGruber skits. Rather than custom-fit their show around their epic guest, they took their typical, lazier reverse approach.

Even if they didn’t want to break out of their current funk of doing virtually nothing but TV show parodies (which, to their credit, four skits tonight were not – beating their season record by 2), they could’ve drawn from her past (Match Game, Password, Golden Girls come to mind). Or just have her beat the crap out of Gilly.
