Gender isn’t a static issue, there are countless shades of gray. No one knows what causes people to be trans one way or the other at this point, but the most prevailing theory is that it’s a hormonal imbalance of sorts in the womb. Every fetus starts off as female. It’s not that hard to fathom something getting out of wack in development and the hormones and brain chemistry going one way, while the body goes the other. This would also explain why in many cases kids as young as 2 and 3 identify as the sex opposite of the one they were born as.

For those who demean Chaz and use female pronouns and the like and otherwise try to insult him, if it makes you feel better about your own sad existences.. then do and say whatever you must. It’s not a good thing to spout off about a topic that you quite clearly lack knowledge in though.

How he acts, how he talks, how he walks, what sort of things he enjoys.  In other words just about everything you know about someone.  If you haven’t seen a persons genitals, if you have not run a chromosome test you go by what you see.  Do you know if the woman at the checkout counter has XX chromosomes?  Do you know what the plumber that fixed your leak has between his legs?  No you don’t.  You go on what you see. 

Next, you haven’t mentioned having a degree in psychology. You are not qualified to make such a diagnosis.

I think Sonny would have come to understand how his daughter had the need to change her gender and become a man. Parents sometimes have problems with such things, but most come around because the love for their child is more important than what sex they are. It was great to see all the competitors on the first night of DWTS. The Army vet and hero J.R. Martinez, our US Women’s Soccer Gold Medalist goal keeper Hope Solo, and the wide variety of other contestants. I thought they all did a good job for their first night and I have a hard time with choosing who I won’t vote for. Even Nancy Grace, who is not a favorite of mine, did a pretty good job for her first time out. I like seeing people who have no experience getting the chance to show their stuff.
