Alec Baldwin on SNL: He’s No Betty White, But He’ll Do
Yes, Betty White was great last week. And yes, she brought SNL its highest ratings since the election. And no, tonight’s SNL season finale host Alec Baldwin probably will not match her ratings. But he’ll probably do okay.
Baldwin is hosting for his 15th time — finally catching up to Steve Martin, in an ongoing fun-feud between the two — and there’s no doubt that he’ll make it a good one. It is to SNL that he owes this magnificent new phase in his career — his Emmy-winning turn as Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock — and it must be so fun to know that you can just push and push and push that envelope, every time. We’ll see more of that tonight. Or, put differently, yes there will be sexual double entendres that you can’t help but giggle at. They have to top the Muffin Sketch, after all.
Here are a few of Baldwin’s memorable turns on SNL in years past, including the infamous “Schweddy Balls” sketch, Tony Bennett, and Always Be Cobbling. See you at 11:30.

Monologue from Feb. 13, 1993, looking super-hot, feat. Paul McCartney:
Classic sketch – in what has become a classic SNL tradition – featuring Alec Baldwin making out with everyone, including Phil Hartman and a puppy. Aw. Not on Hulu, alas, but find the transcript here.
