WATCH: Mayor Pete Buttigieg Slow Jams the News With Jimmy Fallon

Democratic presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg appeared on NBC’s Tonight Show to “slow jam” the news about his campaign and get “booty jiggy” with host Jimmy Fallon.

“Though I’m running this race to beat President Trump, I’m not going to spend all my time talking about President Trump. I want to talk about you and the needs of everyday Americans,” Buttigieg explained.

“Pete Buttigieg wants to satisfy all your needs,” Fallon intoned in response.

When the South Bend, Indiana mayor discussed how his upcoming campaign bus tour will tour the nation. Fallon took a dramatic pause. “Wait a second. You’re saying the Buttigieg bus is stopping all around the country? Then I guess that means…” at which point the house band broke in “…booty booty booty booty rocking everywhere booty booty boot booty rocking everywhere!”

After a beat, the straight-laced Buttigieg offered a droll, deadpan response: “Rocking everywhere.”

Pointing to Buttigieg’s appearance on Fox News and his direct appeals to voters from both parties, Fallon asked: “Democrats and Republicans? So what you’re saying is you go both ways?”

Shaking his head slightly, Buttigieg replied: “No, I’m just gay.”

And though he professed not to be focused on his potential 2020 opponent, President Donald Trump, Buttigieg couldn’t resist taking at least one shot at this White House. When Fallon questioned the 37-year-old mayor about having enough experience to be an effective president, Buttigieg dropped the mic on Trump and his vice president: “Actually, when it comes to my qualifications, I have more government experience than the president. And more executive experience than the vice president. So if they ever want advice, I’m sure their interns can show them how to DM me.”
