‘A Big Positive!’ Fox Anchor and Ex-Trump Adviser Gush About November Jobs Report
Fox Business Network anchor Maria Bartiromo and ex-Trump economic adviser Stephen Moore gushed about a better-than-expeted jobs report, low unemployment, and wage growth.
Friday morning saw the release of a new jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that showed better-than-expected job creation of 199,000 in November and an unemployment rate that ticked down to 3.7 percent:
Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 199,000 in November, and the unemployment rate edged down to 3.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care and government. Employment also increased in manufacturing, reflecting the return of workers from a strike. Employment in retail trade declined.
On Friday morning’s edition of Fox Business Network’s Mornings With Maria, Bartiromo and Moore had a few sidenotes to add, but each praised the news — and Moore said it was “good news for workers” that wages are running ahead of inflation:
MARIA BARTIROMO: Steve Moore, kick us off here. Your reaction to these numbers?
STEPHEN MOORE: Yeah, pretty it is–. Just as I look at those headline numbers, they look pretty positive to me. I have to say, Maria. And so that’s good news.
Especially that wage number, which is which is a positive one, you know, in 24 over the last 27 months, we’ve seen wages running behind inflation. We’re starting to see that reverse a little bit, which is good news for workers.
But boy, do we have to make up a lot of ground because the average family is still about $2,500 poorer than when Trump left office.
One of the things that I said last time the report came out and I want to reiterate this, we keep seeing big gains in government employment. And if you look over the last year, if you look at three sectors of the economy, government, health care and education, those accounted for basically half of the jobs in the United States.
We don’t want the government right now when it’s running a $2 trillion deficit to be growing. We want to see that number shrinking and it isn’t. And that’s showing that the boom of spending in Washington is not over.
MARIA BARTIROMO: Yeah, And there’s also the strike impact. You’ve got thousands of jobs being added to this tally as these strikes were over and people went back to work.
But overall, you got to look at this report as a big positive! We’ve got more jobs created than expected.
