‘Atrocious Numbers!’ CNN Data Guru Says Working Class ‘Turning Against President Trump’ on Gas Prices

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten broke down how President Donald Trump was hemorrhaging voter support due to the rise in gas prices.

Using his own aggregated data, Enten revealed on CNN News Central Friday that Trump’s disapproval rating on gas prices was a staggering 79%. This, according to Enten, was the highest disapproval rating on record.

“Joe Biden wasn’t liked on gas prices, but he only reached 72%,” Enten continued. “Barack Obama wasn’t well-liked back in 2011, but he only reached 68%. Even George W. Bush back in 2006, he reached 75%. I remember the gas prices being quite high back then, but he only reached 75%. Donald Trump takes the cake as these four-dollar-plus gas prices continue to give us pain at the pump. The American people are taking their anger out on the President of the United States.

Trump also achieved what Enten called the “rare trifecta”: majority disapproval among Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. While 52% of Republicans disapproved of his handling of gas prices, that number shot up to 85% for Independents and 96% for Dems.

Perhaps most alarming, however, were the numbers among working-class voters. Among all voters making under $50,000 a year, Trump’s disapproval rating on gas was a disastrous 86%.

“Among Republicans, we’re talking — look at this — we’re talking two in three Republicans. Two in three Republicans!” Enten continued. “Independents, 90%. Democrats, 93%. I mean, you just don’t ever see numbers like these. These are just atrocious numbers among the working class, a trifecta indeed, and a very clear trifecta of the working class turning against President Trump regardless of party identification.

The rise in gas prices has largely come as a result of the war in Iran and the uncertainty surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Although Trump repeatedly insisted the strait was reopened and taken back from Iranian forces, cargo ship traffic has virtually evaporated.
