‘Did He Partner With China?’ GOP Senator Asks Fauci If Bill Gates Had a Role in Covid Pandemic
Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) pelted Dr. Anthony Fauci with a number of questions on Bill Gates and his role in the government’s response to Covid-19 — including whether Gates had worked with China on “sensitive” research — during a Wednesday Senate hearing.
Scott rattled off 23 questions for Fauci during his allotted time, and the doctor refused to answer all of them.
Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right each time Scott hit him with a question, including the eight questions Scott asked him about the Microsoft co-founder.
“To your knowledge, did he partner with China on sensitive research?” Scott asked.
Fauci declined to answer.
“Specifically, did Bill use research such as countermeasures or gain of function?” Scott asked.
Fauci declined to answer.
The doc did the same thing for questions on how much Gates donated to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, whether Gates had an active security clearance, and whether Gates was connected to classified government programs.
Gates and Fauci’s relationship goes back years.
The doctor was a member of a science board partly funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation starting in 2003, and in 2010 he joined a project the foundation and health organizations like the WHO worked on to create a “Global Vaccine Action Plan.” Gates later said he and Fauci frequently talked during the pandemic.
Scott’s questions about Gates were lumped into the middle of his series of inquiries. He wrapped up his 5 minutes of unanswered questions by asking Fauci about the pardon he received from Ex-President Joe Biden.
“Given the culture of pay-to-play in NIAID, did you or anyone acting on your behalf make any payment or enter any arrangement in any way or fashion to secure or influence the broad influence you received from President Biden?” Scott asked.
Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment.
