Elon Musk deleted a number of social media posts attacking President Donald Trump Saturday that were shared with his 200 million X followers at the beginning of their public feud on Thursday.
While not all of Musk’s attacks on Trump are gone, the most incendiary ones were scrubbed as of Saturday – including one accusing the president of featuring prominently in the Epstein files – and covering that up.
That now absent post originally said: “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
A link to the post now directs X users to a page that reads, “Hmm…this page doesn’t exist. Try searching for something else.”
A Thursday post Musk shared that called for Trump’s impeachment on Thursday also no longer appears on the Tesla CEO’s timeline.
Musk did not offer an explanation for the deletion, He nixed another one Friday night shortly after posting it, too, which had vowed an apology to Trump under certain conditions.
When asked to present Trump with a mea culpa over connecting him to Epstein, Musk commented, “I will apologize profusely as soon as there is a full dump of the Epstein files.”
The post was gone shortly after it was shared without explanation. One Musk post that was critical of Trump’s tariffs remained up early Saturday afternoon.
Musk commented, “The Trump tariffs will cause a recession in the second half of this year.”
Musk’s scrubbing of his page comes as Trump threatened him with consequences in comments reported by NBC News on Saturday.
Trump was asked about Musk funding Democrats in next year’s midterms if they vote for the president’s “big, beautiful” budget legislation, which sparked the feud.
“If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” Trump said. “He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that.”
Trump also answered, “No” after he was asked if he hoped to repair his relationship with Musk.
“No,” Trump said when asked if he had any wish to do so. When pressed as to whether the relationship was over for good, he replied, “I would assume so, yeah.”
The Washington Post reported Saturday that in the days since he and Musk fell out, Trump had been on the phone to allies referring to the SpaceX CEO as a “big time drug addict.”
