Ex-State Department Official Ned Price Points Out Example of How ‘Casually & Endlessly’ Trump ‘Lies’

Ned Price, an ex-State Department official under former President Joe Biden, has offered a small but interesting tidbit to point out how President Donald Trump “so casually & endlessly lies.”
Speaking out from the Oval Office following his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday, Trump was asked about the recent attacks by Musk against the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which Musk has slammed as a “pork-filled” and “disgusting abomination.”
On Thursday, Trump said he was surprised by Musk’s remarks, while mentioning an anecdote about Musk’s Oval Office send-off last week, during which the Tesla billionaire sported a black eye. Trump said:
Remember, he was here for a long time. You saw a man who was very happy when he stood behind the Oval desk, and even with a black eye. I said “Do you want make up? We will get you make up.” But he said no, I don’t think so, which is interesting. And very nice. He wants to be who he is so he could make that statement.
Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. I was surprised. Everybody in this room practically was here as we had a wonderful send-off. He said wonderful things about me. Could have nicer. He has worn the hat “Trump was right about everything.” And I’m right about the great big beautiful bill. We call it a great big beautiful bill because that’s what it is.
But Trump told a different story last week when a reporter asked Musk if his eye was OK.
As Musk fumbled with the answer, Trump interjected to say, “I didn’t notice” and made clear it was the first he’d heard of it, as Price pointed out in an X post on Thursday.
“When a reporter asked Elon about his black eye in the Oval last week, Trump said he hadn’t noticed it,” wrote Price. “Now he’s claiming to have even offered him concealer. Not an important detail, obviously, but the way in which the American President so casually & endlessly lies obviously is.”
Musk explained that he got the black eye when he was punched by his 4-year-old son, X.
Price served as State Department spokesman in the first half of Biden’s presidency before becoming a senior adviser to former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, according to his bio. He was also a part of then-President Barack Obama’s National Security Council.
