Fox News’s Tomi Lahren is giving “Twitter beef” a whole new meaning.
Taking to X on Friday morning, Lahren chided President Donald Trump over his new plan — announced hours earlier — to temporarily lift certain tariffs on ground beef imports.
“You know what won’t help American ranchers?” she asked. “Importing a bunch of foreign beef.”
In a follow-up post, she wrote:
If this is the plan the VERY LEAST that can be done is mandatory country of origin labeling so consumers know where the beef they’re buying is coming from. Importing a bunch of foreign beef is just a giant gift to the meat packers who then get to undercut our American ranchers who cannot differentiate their product from the cheap foreign sh*t. The American cattlemen is being driven out of business so the land can be gobbled up for data centers and other bullsh*t.
Lahren, who is also the host of OutKick’s Tomi Lahren is Fearless, added, “So now we are importing foreign workers, foreign beef and paying for foreign wars? The lobbyists are at the top of their game.”
The posts came after Trump took a dig at his predecessor, Joe Biden, while announcing the plan that will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of beef intended for ground beef production to enter the U.S. without an out-of-quota tariff over the next 90 days.
“As everyone knows, under President Biden, beef prices soared at their fastest rate and the American beef herd fell to its smallest size in modern history,” Trump posted on Truth Social as he announced the policy.
“As we work to rebuild this herd and help our ranchers, for the next 90 days, the United States will allow up to 300,000 metric tons of product for ground beef to be imported with no out of quota tariff. We have a commitment that this beef will be sold at 25 percent below current market prices.”
He added: “This deal will reduce prices for Americans while giving space for our Great American Beef Herd to grow again.”
The price of ground beef soared to near-record levels in July, according to Bloomberg, and, citing new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which found the average price of a pound of beef was $7.116, nearly 10 percent higher than a year earlier.
Trump has previously sought new methods to boost beef supplies as prices climbed, including through increased imports from Argentina and efforts to resume live cattle shipments from Mexico.
Last month, the Trump administration was forced to walk back a U.S. beef export figure after the Department of Agriculture acknowledged it had published erroneous data, revising the number down by roughly 90%, according to Reuters.
