Hot Mics Cut as Trump Confronted on Musk’s Bombshell Epstein Files Claim at First Event After Blowup

Hot mics were cut as President Donald Trump was confronted by reporters over Elon Musk’s bombshell claim about the Jeffrey Epstein files at the tail end of an event.

The political media world was rocked Thursday by the in-hindsight-inevitable explosion of the Trump-Musk bromance. It began with a tiny ember a few weeks ago when Musk told an interviewer he was “disappointed” in Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill.”

That ember produced a flame Tuesday as Musk unloaded on the “disgusting abomination” of a bill, and that flame climbed the drapes when Trump fired off a few lit matches when he was asked about Musk in the Oval Office.

But things went absolutely nuclear when Musk unloaded all over X/Twitter like a drunken ED-209 and dropped his most explosive barb.

“@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk wrote.

Just minutes after that mushroom cloud went up, Trump participated in a scheduled event billed as a “Roundtable Discussion with the Fraternal Order of Police” in the State Dining Room of the White House.

In the closing seconds of the photo op, Trump thanked the press and was bombarded with shouted questions, but the official White House archived live stream abruptly cuts off before the shouting begins.

The shouting can be heard on other live feeds — but only until the mics on the pool feed were cut seconds later, even as the video feed continued. The mics went dead as the reporter directed a question to Attorney General Pam Bondi:

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: We’re going to have a little discussion now, very private, and I just want to thank you all for being here. And thank you very much, media. I appreciate it. Thank you very much.

TRUMP AIDES: Guys thank you! Thanks press!

(INDISTINCT SHOUTING)

REPORTER: Mr. President, how do you respond to Elon Musk — his claim about the Epstein file?

(SHOUTING).

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: (SHAKING HANDS WITH ATTENDEE) Nice to see you. Nice to see you.

REPORTER: Ms. Attorney General, is this (INAUDIBLE).
